SOURCE: Netgear WG602 wireless router, Connection Local only !

What I think is you unplgged them at the wrong times.

Do this:
(in this order)

  1. Turn off the router.
  2. Turn off the modem.
  3. take out all the Ethernet cords from the router, EXCEPT the one coming from the modem
  4. Now turn the modem on.
  5. Wait for the lights, then wait about another minute for it to settle.
  6. Turn on the router, make sure the Internet,Lan,Wlan, etc lights are on and functional if it doesn't display a light let me know.
  7. Now depending on what your wireless network (SSID) is called try to connect to it. Go to Start>Network>Click Network And Sharing Center at the top>on the left select Manage Wireless Networks>now click add, if your network is already on the list shown select it and click remove otherwise click "Add" click "add network in reange of this computer" select your network name and click connect.
Now tell me the errors, like if it says connection limited,etc...

Thanks,
Cam

SOURCE: cant access my netgear router config screen

I have found my own solution to this problem. A cheap Lynksys wireless. I have found that it is fruitless trying to talk to netgear or Apple reps, one never gets to talk to someone really knowledgeable, and it is too frustrating having to step through their scripted questionaire. In addition there are a lot of well-intentioned people that can send you in a wild chase. No worth the waste of time when a $40 or less Lynsys would solve the problem. Good luck to the ones who still have the problem and still want to pursue a solution. Thank you to those who tried to help.

SOURCE: Netgear usb not getting IP Address

Hi,

I've just had a similar problem with my WG111T connecting to a Tiscali provided Thompson ST585 router.

My problem was that my WG111T was reportedly connecting OK to the router but that then the router would not assign an IP address to the PC.

I figured out the following - download the latest WG111T driver from Netgear (I used 2.1 from http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WG111T.asp).

Follow the instructions to deinstall your old driver and to re-install the new.

THIS IS THE IMP BIT. When the Netgear instalation process gives you the option to use the Netgear config - it;s marked as (recommended) then DO NOT pick this. Instead pick the std. Win XP config option.

This then meant that I could control the input of the security key myself.

This worked for me!

Why? Well i'm guessing here but I think it's to do with differences in WEP / WPA-KSP.

Anyway hope that helps

SOURCE: netgear wg111v2 wireless usb adapter wont acquire ip address

Not sure if this is where you are looking, but it probably is. click START then CONNECT TO then SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTION click STATUS then SUPPORT,,,
or CONTROL PANEL then NETWORK CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTIONS then click STATUS then SUPPORT tab
See what you have there for an IP address
Is it the computer you don't have an IP for or the router? In my case my computer IP the 8th or last digit is the next number after what it is for the router. The other numbers are the same

SOURCE: Applying QoS to WNDR3300

You may stop what you are doing right now. Nothing you do will work regarding QOS and your Avaya IP phone?

Is this a hardware VPN, or a VPN remote phone? (vpn client on the phone)

Depending on what system you are connected to, an IP Office or a communication manager, there might be settings to do, but none of them are qos.

QOS is inserted on the LAN, once the packets leave the LAN and hit the open internet, there is no QOS.

You might be able to change the compression algorithm the phone is using, which might help.

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

My router no longer seems to work. Is there a way I can reset it and see if it will work again.

Try doing a power drain: Disconnect power cable from the router and also the network cables and then connect all the cables back after 2 minutes.

Reset: There is a reset switch available in the pannel along side to the network cable and power cable, use a pointed object like a small pin / screw driver to pre and hold it for 5 - 10 seconds to reset the router

Caution: Reseting the router with the reset switch will remove all settings from the router including the security settings and will retrun the settings to factory settings and we have to setup the router once again.

These are instruction to Reset and Restore the “Router Password.”
The first thing you want to do is to “Reset” the Router’s configurations to factory defaults settings, hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep2 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/2188502/adminpwd_Full.jpg'); }); Once your router resets, you will need to Login and reconfigure it again.
To reconfigure your “Router” connect the Computer to one of the Ethernet Ports. Next, type in your Web Browser, and go to URL http://192.168.1.1/. “You will be asks you to enter a “Username and Password to login to your router,” or use the router’s (“Default Password”) which is “admin.

“You should be able to reconfigure the “Router.” Next, go to the Management (Tab) to change the Administrator’s password.
Next, you will need setup the Security for the Router, by selecting to (“Enable”) the “Security Codes,” example: WEP “Rating the solution, if it helped? is appreciated, thanks”

I cant remember my login or password. how do i reset these?

on the back there should be a little hole with reset above it, Get a paper clip or pin and push it in the hole and you will feel a button click in.

Kept it hold down for about 10 seconds and you should see the lights start flashing and your router is then reset. If it doesnt reset the first time, try holding the reset button in a bit longer.

Good Luck :D

Lost codes

On the back of your router there is a reset button, hold it down for 3o seconds or so, this will reset the router back to factory settings, the default user name and password would be admin, note that sometimes with the belkin you only need the user name and not the password. Usually you need admin/admin though.

The default IP address to access the router when its reset is 192.168.2.1

Hope that helps
