Check the thermo protector fuse at the bottom near the heating pad. The fuse must not be open circuit. If it is, replace it. You can order the fuse for $1 from eBay or Amazon. Good luck!

If the unit runs normally otherwise, but doesn't give off vapor, then your heating element is the culprit. i.e. if fan runs, switches in normal positions, indicating lights on, etc.and restart slide switch depressed and no mist, then, yes the heating element is the source of the problem. It may be bad, or otherwise it may just be scaled up from hard water, and require cleaning.

You may refer to your users manual, or if you no longer have a copy, you may download one at this link: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000006709.pdf

Hope this answers your question.

Is not producing the mist

Most misting humidifiers use an atomizer to generate the mist. It is a small metal disk that vibrates very fast. I have yet to see one of these that ever lasts more than a year or two. If you remove the water container you should be able to see the atomizer. If you can put you finger on it and it isn't vibrating then thats the problem. On most small humidifiers it is cheaper to buy a new one that to try and get it fixed.

The humidstat light is on when I first try to get humidifier going.

This is normal, based on where you have the humidistat knob set to, it will go out only after reaching the humidity level set on the knob. Also if you have it setting in a fairly large open area of your home, it may take a loooong time to reach the proper humidity level. My cousin has one of these units setting in his living room, which has a cathedral ceiling, the unit's humidistat light never goes off, and the unit runs continually, unless the resevoir runs low. But the unit operates fine.

Hope this answers your question. You may refer to your user's manual regarding this, or if you don't have a copy, you may download one at this link: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000006709.pdf

Start switch doesn't work

the switch is bad or there is a loose wire connection, if you have a multi-meter you can check the resistance on the switch, it should be 0.0-0.2 if the switch is good it could be the pump.If the pump is bad don't bother fixing it.

Have a warm air Honeywell humidifier. The "refill/restart" button is permanently on even if I refill the humidifier and the humidifier does not want to work now. How do I fix this? It seems a sensor is...

This may be due to one of two things.

1. If you turn the unit off or unplug it when you refill the resevoir, then plugging back in or turning it back on will not automatically reset the refill sensor. You must depress the restart slide switch on the bottom front controls to reset and restart the unit, or.....

2. It the refill light won't clear after refilling the resevoir or following the above step, the most likely cause of the problem is a scaled up heating element, which must then be cleaned.

I just uploaded a copy of the user manual to this site, but if you would like to download it directly, follow this link: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000006709.pdf

Hope this helps!

Vapor is not coming for sunbeam humidifier model 686

from all the information that i have come across. the unit is a cool mist. the vapor won't be apparent for the coolmist. now if it was a warm mist there is something internal that isn't making it cause any vapor. but if you done all the normal troubleshooting and nothing still and it has a filter it will more likely be a cool mist. warm mists don't have filters
