Starting tripping circuit breaker

Good Afternoon Dennis - Often when this occurs, it is because there are too many appliances on the circuit or something may have a weak or poor breaker. Try plugging the unit in a different location or on its own circuit. If the issue continues, then it could also be possible that something shorted within the unit. So in this case, because it is a smaller appliance, repairs are often more costly than the actual unit replacement. You may want to check and see if your dehumidifier is still under warranty and if so, reach out to the manufacturer to determine the exact warranty coverage. Thanks for allowing me to help you.

KENMORE DEHUMDIFIER MODEL 580.51300100 DOES NOT RUN, NO POWER LIGHT AND NO FAN RUNNING ETC

First, check the source of the power to the unit, Has a circuit breaker in your home's circuit breaker panel been tripped? If so, unplug the unit, before resetting the circuit breaker. If that's not the case, check the outlet it's plugged into. It may be damaged or have a loose wiring connection. Be sure to turn the circuit breaker for that receptacle OFF, before removing the cover plate.

If all of the above checks out OK, check the water collection bucket, as it may need to be emptied and/or the bucket was not reinstalled properly or the float valve in the top of the bucket is stuck in the UP position, If so, jiggle the arm of the float valve to get to return to the DOWN position.

When reinstalling the bucket, be sure that it fits "squarely" into it's holder and makes firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumidifier has stopped working...it appears to be electrical..no switches are working and no lights are on.

Check the outlet that the unit is plugged into, to be sure that it's still has power. If it doesn't, a circuit breaker for that outlet may have tripped. Or the outlet receptacle may have a loose wire. Try plugging the unit into another outlet that is not on the same circuit, as the one it's currently plugged into.

Demudifier worked great, all a sudden it just stopped. No power. Now it won't start up. What should I try?

First, check the outlet that it's plugged into, to make sure that there's still power to the outlet. If there isn't, then the circuit breaker for that outlet has been tripped, in your home's circuit breaker panel. Leave the dehumidifier unplugged and reset the circuit breaker. If it trips again, without the dehumidifier unplugged, then the outlet is at fault. Perhaps there's a loose wire connection or the interior of the outlet is cracked.

If it didn't trip without the dehumidifier plugged in, plug the unit it in,. But, before you do, make sure the dehumidifier's Master ON/OFF Switch is OFF. Once it's plugged in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set your controls. If it runs now, GREAT! If it trips the circuit breaker again, there's either a short in the power cord or an internal electrical short. Which will require extensive troubleshooting to find.

Hope this helps you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Unit will start and run for 5 seconds, then will blow a circut breaker on 20A. circut. This is a model AD75USTO Serial # QU2660438 AKA Whirlpool gold energy star

Hopefully, it's not a problem inside the unit that's causing the circuit breaker to trip. Is there another electrical appliance plugged into the same outlet or on that circuit that is ON and draws 15 amps of power? If so, that's the problem. If that's not the case, turn the circuit breaker OFF and remove the outlet cover, so you can inspect the receptacle and it's wiring. A loose wiring connection or a broken or cracked receptacle could be the issue. If you don't find any damage reassemble the outlet and turn the circuit breaker back ON. Instead of plugging in the dehumidifier, plug in a lamp or something similar and turn it ON. Leave it on for more than 5 minutes to see if the circuit breaker trips again. If it does, you'll know the problem is either with the outlet receptacle or the circuit breaker. If doesn't, plug in the dehumidifier (Make sure the Master ON/OFF Switch on the unit is in the OFF position, before plugging it in. Then turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set your controls. If the circuit breaker trips again, the problem is in the dehumidifier. You will need to call Whirlpool Customer Care, as it's an internal electrical issue.

In case you have misplaced your Owners Manual, I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference. http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%201188927.pdf

I have cleaned the filter that is located in the front; however it still won't turn on, what could be wrong? thank you

If you're not getting any indicator lights, check the receptacle that it's plugged into. Is their power to it? If not, the circuit breaker in your home's circuit breaker panel may have been tripped. Or the outlet itself may be faulty (loose wire, poor connection, etc). If the indicator lights are working, but the compressor is not, turn the Master ON/OFF switch on the unit to OFF and wait 10 minutes before plugging it back in. This will give the electronics time to reset themselves.

Hopefully, the above will solve you problem.

Goldstar dehumidifier keeps tripping the circuit breaker in the house

your problem may be within your dehumidifier or it may be within the circuit breaker itself. I just replaced a faulty breaker this morning for a customer.

plug the dehumidifier into another plug which you are sure is working and also sure is not on the circuit you have been using. [turn that breaker off and you will know what it controls
.

if the problem is the breaker, replace it. if the problem is the dehumidifier look for a poor connection, a bare wire touching the frame of the dehumidifier, a fryed wire, etc. good luck.

Tripping BreakerS

Same problem as both above. Humidifier trips after maybe 5 minutes. Top of machine is very warm; there's no on/off switch, so plugging in does nothing until the heat dissapates. What's the solution, to just buy a new piece of equipment?

Unit trips out circuit after a few minutes (20Amp stand alone circuit)

make sure that the circuit breaker for the electrical plug is not faulty, cause after a long lifetime of high amperage flowing through it, the springs will start to get weak. If this is the case then you need to replace the electrial breaker. Otherwise, make sure that the power system on the system is not pulling too much current, Or that there is not a faulty breaker inside the printer itself, which has become weak.
