RCA DVD player model DRC285

The laser pickup unit is faulty. It should be repalced.

The gears are jammed, the timing gear is out of sync, or a broken loading belt, or cogwheel.

If your surround sound receiver unit has rca audio inputs(red/white), you can hook up any brand of DVD player that has rca outputs. You would hook the yellow output from DVD player to yellow input on TV. Hook red/white output from DVD player to red/white input on surround receiver. Hope this helps.

my rca dvd player model # drc277 will not play .i put a dvd in and it opens and closes. Is there a code to play all region disc?

it sounds like the vertical hold on your tv set needs adjusting also with your tv and dvd are there a set of three plugs usually red,white and yellow in colour ?? if so connect these with a cable as this by passes the tv tuner hope this helps regards JIm

I have returned the same dvd player twice and it seems that they all have this defect after a few runs. It's a shame because they can read divx but I'm done with this cheap brand made in very light fragile plastic. I've been told that there is nothing to do with this problem, it's just a bad one.

I had the same problem with a memorex and called a company called Family Safe. Their number is 1-800-828-4514. Leave a message and you will be called back usually by a man named Mike. He has authorization to activate this for TV Guardian. Somehow the last digit is being left off of the code on the machines so the website reads it as invalid. You will have to give him your credit card number but it is a safe site and he activated mine and called me back within minutes with my code. Hope this helps.

If there is a tiny pin hole in the front a straightened paper clip does wonders. Simply insert to release the drawer. At least that's how it works on computers ;)
