Sounds like the damper or damper belt may be at fault. The cold air enters the refer compartment through the damper in the back. If that damper is not controled to close/open as needed it is likely stuck fully open all the time. That will let cold air in no matter what the t-stat says. See if you can view with a mirror and see if the damper "blinds" are fully open. If the t-stat is turned all the way down the dampers should close, as less cold air is needed. Then, as the t-stat is turned up, the dampers open to let in cold air from the freezer compartment. Let us know what you find and we can go from there.

I have frost build up where ice comes out of ice maker. The frost then clogs the shoot in door.

sounds like the ice flapper door is stuck open. Pretty common for GE refrigs to have the ice door solonoid and plunger get all rusty and need replacement

My GE profile refrigerator's ice maker is frosting over at the exit point for the ice leaving the ice bin. I have cleaned it repeatedly and have no clue as to the cause.

The flap door that opens to let ice drop out of the door has a bad seal or the plastic mounting arm is cracked or broken, this is allowing moisture to enter and turn to frost. This will continue to happen until the flap door is repaired, and sealing correctly.

Ice maker tube freezing up

  • change the water valve on the back of the machine.
  •  the water valve is slowly leaking water up to the icemaker where it freezes and builds up ice, blocking the water flow.
