I have a Sony Trinitron 32" tv. When I turn it on, it has started taking longer and longer for the picture to come on. Sound is fine. Now once the tv is on for a while, the picture goes black for approx. 10 seconds then comes back on. Does this about every 5 minutes or so. When the picture is on, the color is beautiful. And ideas?

Yes.... u must adjust the screen voltage going to picture tube....located on the CRT module>>>little board connected directly to picture tube (take back off TV and you will see ) play around with screen control on the CRT module......can be adjusted at times to keep from losing picture!!! tube is bad...i know sure looks good when showing a picture....TRY adjusting screen voltage ( YES while TV is ON>>>CAREFULL ) gl

I have a Sony Trinitron KV-32S36 model. It's 16 yrs old. The sound works fine. When you turn tv on the picture is off center and keeps fading till there is no picture at all. Is this the tube going out?

Surely the emission of the CRT is going out.

Blurry & Fuzzy Picture Sony Trinitron

Check the filter capacitor to the supply to video output card. You can locate this capacitor at the CRT base card to your Sony Trinitron. Replace this electrolytic capacitor.

My sony trinitron 32 inch widescreen only gives slight flash when you turn it on but sound is working. no picture just sound. picture worked once since this started happening and then went off again. Any...

there might be a problem with the connection of the screen to the motherboard or the wire that connects it might be the fault. but there could be a burnt fuse or components.I would suggest letting a tv tech have a look good day sr

Sony Trinitron TV now taking around 5 minutes for picture to appear (sound comes on instantly) Is it worth repair or should I cut losses and replace set?

How old is the TV?
Sony Trinitron sounds like it may be from the 1980's?
Some TV engineers can use a piece of equipment to do a "tube boost" but this is sometimes risky and can completely ruin the tube, but it's a risk you would have to take.
If the TV is over 15 years old, and has been used regularly, (like 4 hours every day or more) it seems likely that the tube has reached the end of life.
TV cathode ray tubes are like light bulbs...they do not last forever!

T V blinks to black every few seconds otherwise works fine

Sony put i pic killer circut in there tvs. if the tube was not
giving the proper feed voltage on the guns in
the pic tube it blinks off ,sound good no pic.
if you turn up the brightness
on the flyback transfromer you can
get a little more life out of it ,

Take it to an authorised repair agent. Sonys can be very complicated for both amateur and professional alike. I have spent hours on some of them.Most probably a failed voltage regulator though very common for Sonys and expensive.

Picture goes on and on constantly

I have the same problem. Picture cuts out completely then back on. When I first turn it on, it does this constantly for about 15-20 mins, then about once every 30 mins or so. The sound is fine, but the picture just flashes on and off.

The color is also starting to shift a lot and cannot be fixed by adjusting COLOR-BRIGHTNESS-PICTURE in the video control menu system. Nothing seems to correct this. I've even unplugged the TV over night to see if it needed some sort of reset. Model = KV-20FV12. Purchased in 2004

My connection is a direct cable connection - Comcast cable. Same problem persist while showing a DVD as well.

If the standby light is blinking 5 times then repeating, it is likely a problem in your picture tube or related circuitry. Other possibilities include the "Jungle" IC which takes care of the video, chroma and deflection processes and is a bear to replace. Either way, it could be an expensive repair.
