SOURCE: My Creative Zen M won't "dock"
My zen microphoto wouldn't dock after working well. It coincided with a download of windows media player 11. I was told to download media player 11 again and to restart the computer twice. Something to do with a driver missing. I didn't think this would work - but it did! In fact two zen micros that wouldn't dock are now docking perfectly!!

If you tried to reset it, but it did not respond at all, this indicates that the reset button is broken. You'll need to have it repaired.
SOURCE: Creative Zen is not recognized by my computer.
CREATIVE has DISCONTINUED ALL SUPPORT for the NOMAD JUKEBOX ZEN EXTRA. The software and firmware was on their website 6 months ago and they have now removed it. (software for players that are CLOSE in style will not work.)
Apparently they have decided that this first generation player is no longer viable.
My unit is barely hanging in there and after extensive research I discovered that the support materials were removed.
Time to go to an IPOD. The new Creative line sucks. It's been a WONDERFUL 5 years with this underappreciated unit.

I had the same problem. This worked for me on a Zen that is 2 years old: Go into the Control Panel on the start menu and select System. Then select Hardware and then Device Manager. You will see a list of all the devices on your pc. Now you should see your Zen about half way down the list. Highlight it and then at the top in the menu item Action select Uninstall. Windows will then uninstall your hardware. Unplug your Zen from the USB port, if you haven't already done so, and then plug it back in. Windows should then reinstall your device and you should be good to go.
