How do I change the aspect ratio without using the remote

use the remote to get the on screen menu ( press menu button on the remote)
move until you get aspect ratios
select what you want
ok and exit.

Unfortunately there is no way to change the image aspect ratio without a remote.

In most you can't. You change the aspect ratio on computer or video device feeding the TV

Not to my knowledge. That feature is only accessible for the tv on it's own remote control. Most
cable or satellite remotes only control the aspect ratio for it's own equipment.

I just had this problem and got it solved. The issue is that your cable box is likely set to the wrong aspect ratio, so your tv will not be able to display the picture properly without this setting changed. On my cable box(Pace), you need to turn the power off to the cable box using the remote. Then hit the menu button on the remote and a new menu will appear on the screen. Change the aspect ratio to 16:9 and you should be all set. Hope this works for you too.

If you are connected to a HD cable or satellite box, the aspect ratio is set by that box. If it is set for 1080i 16:9 wide screen mode then your TV is locked at that ratio. You need to change the aspect ratio of the screen. The cable box remote has an aspect ratio button and the tv remote also has an aspect ratio button or picture size button. You are probably on a zoom aspect since its too big.

You really dont need the remote all changes are accessible from the controls on top of the machine.
If you select the menu button then picture you will notice that the 'Aspect Ratio' is greyed out. What you wiil need to to do to make this operable is to connect your video/dvd device.Once the projector is through searching and picture is set up you will find that you are able to make changes to the Aspect Ratio. ie highlight and then hit the select button to select native 16;9 or 4;3

If you are trying to change the aspect ratio on the television make sure you are sending an HD signal Via Component cables. I am not aware of a way to get HD cable without a PC cable card or box, it could be that your television is not receiving the proper signal (analog, or composite) to switch the aspect ratio on your particular television.
