update the audio driver. download the audio driver from your computer manufacturer's website and install it, then restart your computer.

did you try reinstall the sound drivers?

this is a problem with WinXP locking the IRQs of the sound adaptor/sound card chip....no solution till date from MS.
as an alternate do this....
buy a 1$ USB Sound adaptor and connect ur speaker to that...u will get the sound back all software will sue that sound adpator

Most of the drivers/software I get are from a web site driverguide.com you need to fill out a free registration then search for the driver you need download it in a format you can use install it and then most times reboot the computer

The one beep is normal . If the fan is not working on the CPU , replace the fan or oil it The CPU can go only a second or so without the fan working. Some models(BIOS )will not allow the computer to start if the fan is not working. Start there.Check out the link below:

its the audio amp, its fried and needs to be replaced. match the numbers up and purchase/replace boards, this will solve your problem.
