Check that the cable is correctly connect it from the back of the computer. Then check on the control panel wheather under sounds and test the sound of the pc. Check under the device manager to see if the driver is install.

as an alternate do this....
buy a 1$ USB Sound adaptor and connect ur speaker to that...u will get the sound back all software will sue that sound adpator

Most of the drivers/software I get are from a web site driverguide.com you need to fill out a free registration then search for the driver you need download it in a format you can use install it and then most times reboot the computer

Starting proplem

The one beep is normal . If the fan is not working on the CPU , replace the fan or oil it The CPU can go only a second or so without the fan working. Some models(BIOS )will not allow the computer to start if the fan is not working. Start there.Check out the link below:
