I've had a couple of Garmin C330 units and a C340. They're good quality except for the flimsy power plugs. My first one out of the box had a defective plug which made intermittent contact when I plugged it into the lighter. Tightening the knurled nut on the tip of the plug helped somewhat, but didn't fix it completely. It became a non-issue after I bought a friction mount which came with a better cord and plug. The friction mount also stopped the problem of the suction cup constantly falling off the windshield.
Go to www.garmin.com and read about "Map Updates" Enter your unit's serial number and see if there's a newer map available. It will explain about how to buy and install the update.
Hello KTFORE1, The Street Pilot 330 comes with both a vehicle power cord and a USB cord for connecting the unit to the computer. If I understand you correctly the GPS isn't getting power from the vehicle power cord. Does the GPS charge if connected to a computer using the USB cable? If so the problem is likely the power cord or cigarette lighter socket you are using. If the GPS doesn't charge from USB port on your computer then the problem is likely the GPS itself. If you determine that the cable is the source of the problem, check and replace the cable's fuse. You will probably also want to check and replace your vehicle fuses as the circuit that powers the cigarette lighter might have a blown fuse. If replacing the fuses doesn't solve the issue then you might need to replace the power cord. Best Regards. Ken "Go Ahead. Use Us."
Given the cost of buying a new LCD with touchscreen is about $130 USD + shipping. Your best solution is to sell the existing unit and buy a new Nuvi or recondition C330.
Garmin will repair the unit for $150 and provide the lastest update and map.
