    do u have any DVD player software installed like PowerDVD? if not down load a copy, it is free.

Make sure you installed the right driver.. If you are pertaining to playing a dvd video, then you need a dvd player software like PowerDVD.

you might have to uninstall both the dvd/cd + its drivers then reinstall them actually unplug the cd/dvd from its power cable then restart your computer plug it back in your computer should activate found new hardware or
control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

go to manufacturers site and download them,
The model of you machine should have compatible drivers that will work too
check them first,you will need your model and make and Operating System too.

Hi,
This may be a device driver problem.
uninstall then re-install your CD/DVD Writing Program. i,e Nero-Roxio et,c. it has to have The ATAPI device driver installed to function Correctly.

LG DVD RW not reading dvd
If the problem is only with reading the DVD's seems you do not have a dvd decoder installed or an appropriate dvd player. Download vlcplayer it plays most of the file formats and has many codecs integrated within.

Playing dvd's
Inside the Control Panels, look for System. Double-click System and choose Device Manager. Inside Device Manager, find the CD/DVD and "Uninstall" the device. Restart the computer and let it re-load the driver. This might help. You can also try a CD/DVD laser lens cleaner.

Cant instal as have no installaltion cd
Dont be silly - its plug and play. the only thing software disk does is install nero or other burning software with you can 'borrow' from you friend next door. Wakey waky!
