That's too long, check to see if you have flame in the broiler section, i'm thinking not. see if your ignitor is just staying on without igniting burner, ignitors will produce that much heat in that amount of time. if no flame at butner, replace ignitor.

typically the "self-cleaning" part is automatic, and all it really does is get so hot that it burns all the crud off of the surfaces. Check owners manual for complete "how-to" use options for your oven.
Press the "Auto Clean" or "Precise Clean" button depending on the control type of your range. Then press start. The oven should lock and start the self-cleaning cycle. The cycle is usually 3 hours from start to finish and cannot be stopped once it has started heating. The range gets extremely hot and causes the inside of the oven to act like a catalyst to burn the grease. It will create smoke and odor depending on how dirty the inside of the oven is. Make sure to leave the exhaust fan on above the range to remove some of the heat. And definently do not do the cleaning cycle on a hot summer day!
just set it to clean then it will lock the oven and let it get really hot it will loosen the spilled food by burning it off and just wiping it off when the oven cools
No you don't have to. They will also clean. Everything will burn off when in cleaning mode. Oven gets really hot, then cools when done. You won't be able to open door until cooled.
your ignitor could be going out. the ignitor has to get hot enough in order for the gas to turn on and heat your oven. if your ignitor is going out, sometimes it doesn't glow hot enough for the gas to turn on, or it could be that is takes longer than normal to get hot enough to turn the gas on. I would replace the ignitor and that should solve the problem. Joe

Looks like yours is a bad oven control. There is a # at the end of yourmodel # 0-5 that will determine which control it takes. Once you havethat # you can look it up at http://www3.sears.com/ Looks like the part costs about $165.
