Projection TVIt appears to be convergence issues. Red, green, - 2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, , JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....

    Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise. It appears to be convergence issues. Red, green, - 49abec3.jpgHere are some photos of convergence problems.

    Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.
It appears to be convergence issues. Red, green, - 2_bing.gifou can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

I have the opposite of a convergence problem. green pincushion cannot adjust so green is higher on left and right than center (bow tie). BUT red & blue will adjust and proprerly converge over the...

makenamicro, there is still a convergence yoke the green crt which means there is still a drive control circuit that controls your dynamic and static convergence. If you are working with out a service manual it is still possible that one of the convergence power amps is out, since you mentioned that you can adjust the red and blue to conform to the green pattern then try to adjust the green with out the R/B present if you ca not still adjust you green pincushion problem then suspect one of the power conv amps or a defective green conv yoke.(don't forget to check the small value resistors usually around 2 ohm and the pico fuses if the tv uses them. good luck and i hope i answered your questions, please let this web site know if yes by leaving some pos feedback. thanks!

Cannot adjust red multi point

Symptom:
Unit appears to have poor convergence due to:
1. cross hatch appears tilted
2. one color (or more) being larger than the others.

Cause:
The yoke or yokes may have:
(1) rotated slightly or
(2) slipped down during transport.

Resolution:
Loosen a yoke and lower to inspect the tape. If black tape is present remove it from under all yokes (white tape or no tape is OK). Slide yoke or yokes up tight against the CRT and tighten to prevent slipping or rotation. Precede with
alignments and or convergence as necessary.

YOu have convergence issues. Ok first question. IN your setup menu do you have the convergence option/ if you DO not then it can be a specail fusable link. fl231 if you do. next question do the picture bow in at the middle. if you do then it possibly a convergence power supply issue. next if you go into setup convergence does the crosshairs adjust up or down left to right on both blue and red. I if so then theres is a chance that it can be a convergence adjusment or a amplifer problem AS always THIS SET CAN GENERATE LEATHAL 380 VOLTS EVEN WITH SET UPLUGED SO BE CAREFULL.

Panasonic PT-51HX41 yoke adjustments

go back and check them resistors....with a magnifier and be sure of the color codes...I bet one is way off. and get the manual out confirm each resistor u replaced and even remeasure it. dont mess with yokes or nothing on them tubes! its on the board....check for solder splash too on bottom or shorted pins on stks. if you must just make a big x on screen from corner to corner now cover red and blue tubes. the green should be in center of the x if not move the adjusting 2 magnets near yoke to center it it will have tabs sticking out u might have to move both. after you center adjust red and blue to green. good luck

Mitsubishi WS65511 Rear Proj. TV still have resetting problem after DM caps & conv. IC replacement. Any other ideas or tests to do ? Any TV old timers that remember how to diagnose boards ? My Mistubishi WS 65511 Rear Projection TV runs fine for 15 minutes, Then kicks off & has the blinking green light while it resets. You can turn it on again & get another 15 minutes. Over & over, Then it may work fine for 6 hours or more. Seems to be worse when cold. And the problem has been more frequent with months. So I replaced the 7 Elec. Caps on the DM board. They weren't bulging & looked fine, But I put in 7 new ones. Did not improve at all. Same problem, Same time, 15 minutes. While in there I looked at everything. Nothing bulging, burn't, or visual. Something is going bad & causing a over load that triggers a shut down & reset. Any Help or Ideas PLEASE ! Any possible parts that I can try that might have done the same for you. I can solder in parts, But don't know what to try with it being so erratic. Also, does anyone have a service manual with wiring diagram. OR should I just try buying used boards off EBAY & try replacements. I really want to keep this monster in the living room. I've grown accustomed to her face. And the wife likes to pile nick-nacks on top. There should be lots of these replaced with flat screens by now. When it works, The picture is perfect, sometimes all day long.
