My door closes fine, but when opening, it only

My door closes fine but when opening it only rises about 6 inches then stops. I even tried it with the link to the door disconnected so it wouldn't be a weight issue but still the trolley moves only a few inches back then stops. No error lights blinking. Closing direction is perfect.

Remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor and may be stripped. If so you will also find what looks like white sawdust inside the motor unit.

You may need to adjust the springs. If the door is too heavy, the opener won't lift it. Every garage door has springs to counter the weight of the door. These springs need to be adjusted so the opener can open and close the door. Try for one-hand easy to open...

Generally when the door is closing any problem will cause the door to reverse to the open position and stop. This is designed into it. You say your opener just stops when going up or down. This makes me think there is a bad connection somewhere and you are simply losing power. If this is so you should notice that all the small lights that are normally on go out. If this only occurs when the door is going up you may have a bad RPM sensor board. This is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor.

If the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the lights on the sensors are both on and not flickering. Tweak them if necessary. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors or the wiring to them.

It sounds like the door springs may be mis-adjusted. Release the doors from the opener and try raising and lowering them manually. They should not try to rise on their own.

Door opens only 6 inches and stuck

I would try jumping a wire across the white & red terminal to see if your safety sensors are working Properly! If your door opens you have a loose connection or faulty sensors.
