I have had exactly this problem when changing TVs. Initially I had the sVideo out cable from the Bose with a scart plug on TV end - that worked fine on old TV. On new TV, first Samsung, second SOny, got Black and white video picture. To get it to work I used a component video cable - this is a short svideo cable with a an audio cable at the Bose end. It splits into a 3way R G B cable within 2- 3 inches at Bose end. I then plugged rgb extension cables into this and TV and worked perfectly.
I found the answer to this by errr...... reading the BOse doucumentation I reveived when I bought the Lifestyle system 5 years ago.
Good luck
Peter

I just bought this unit and I really like it but it will not play my burned dvd's in color. Why not?

Not seing color is only a matter of PAL & NTSC support by your DVD.

Does it play both original (bought) USA & EU DVDs? Does it play them OK? If yes, there is a color system issue with your DVD - ripping software.
If not (even the bought ones) thens check:

1. Is your TV both PAL & NTSC compatible?
2. Is your DVD player as above?
3. If you are connecting your DVD via another device (a receiver, switcher...) is it supporting both as above?

That's all.

You connect up a DVD to a TV via the Audio Visual leads, they go into the Red White, the Audio, & Yellow, the composite Video. In & Out. They wire color to color. Then you select AV on the TV. & press Play on DVD.

Getting DVD's to play in color

Just had the same problem with mine. It would not play DVD's in color, but the TV's color was great. I put in a DVD and started playing it. I unpugged and replugged the S-video cord while the DVD player was playing a movie. This was an instant fix for mine. The color is back while watching DVD's. Hope this will work for you too!
