Westell 6100 modem stops downloading

I can't really tell by the picture of the modem of what version you have an f series or g, but I can tell you this for personal experience that the westell 6100 F series is junk. I went with westell 6100 G and my works pefectly. Verizon admitts at www.dslreports.com they have trouble with the 6100 F modem. What verizon said the new firmware was to blame on the 6100 F.
I would like to add that my friend had the exact some problem, he got he G series, and it cure his.

I have a westell 6100 modem also- The light your are talking about always blinks- it blinks as long as the internet is working (it is sending and transmitting data)

there might be a problem with the Linksys router, the Westell 6100 should be 1st set to bridge mode in order for your router to be connected to it. or there could also be a proble on the Verizon server.

Blinking light means that firmware on your DSL modem just got updated. The modem is pinging the Networ/Computer connected to it. If you open your Modem Page 192.168.1.1 you will see the difference, unless you never have done it before.

Westell 6100 modem by default can only be used for 1 PC . It cannot orit is not enabled to use for 2or morer computers as it creates a conflict within. Ethernet connection is the BEST connection for you to use.> your USB is sent to you by you provider { ISP} or by westell packages. Its is only a spare cable just in case your PC doesnt support ethernet connection ,  nothing else. 

To resolve this issue you might want to upgrade your modem to a router w/c is westell versalink . You can connect 2 or more computers  { wired or wireless connection } and is more stable compared to your westell 6100.

Connecting 2 computers could cause slow, intermittent and NO connections at all problems.

basically if the internet light on a westell modem is red there are just some settings that has to be change on the modem set up,, it depends in the protocol that you are connected.. for westell 6100 lite,, the default address for the settings is 192.168.1.1,,,,,, click start button then click run on start menu, input http://192.168.1.1 then ckick ok...you will directed to the westell set up page,, default username for modem security is admin and default password is password,, then edit conection - if it promts to input a connection name, account id and password pls contact your ISP to get the infos.... if not just ckick release then renew

not true...i have this exact modem, and it is not plug & play, im searching for the usb driver myself and having no luck

if the ethernet ligth on modem is off, pc is not talking to the modem
check ethernet cable connection,, make sure it is properly and firmly plugged into the correct port...if still the same check network interface card,, right click my computer then click properties goto hardware tab,, click device manager button,, look for network adapters...right click adpter installed on pc then click update driver
