Light doesn't turn blue at all

I've had this hard drive for a while, and it was working fine.
I tried to access the hard drive, but for some reason, the light does not turn blue at all (it stays red). I tried restarting the computer, hard drive, connecting it to a different USB port, connecting it with a different USB cable that I know for sure is working. Nothing seems to work.

The last time I was able to access it, my husband told me that the hard drive was on (although I'm sure I had turned it off) so he turned the switch off on the back. But next morning, I noticed that the hard drive light was still blue, so I flipped the switch again, but the light was still on and blue.
So I disconnected the USB cable and power cord to make sure it's turned off. After that when I tried to access my hard drive, the light won't turn blue.

My acmdata drive suddenly disappeared from my list of drives and the light won't turn solid blue - it flashes blue from red. I have tried it on various computers, disconnected and reconnected cords and ports. Is there any solution or hope???

Plug it into another computer if possible, clear ALL files on it.
You must of been sending something to it when you flicked the switch, they would normally go off straight away.

(Backup on the other computer first)

If this does not work then you may want to see if you can see a usb stick in your USB ports. If you can it's a fault with the harddrive, nothing else you can do.

Stop error on sony vaio vgn-nw235f

There are multiple possible reasons for your problem:
1. virus
2. hard-drive malfunctions
3. OS malfunctions
4. memory failure

Try to install an antivirus and do a deep scan. You should pay attention to a boot sector virus.

If this doesn't help, do a back-up of your data, format your hard disk and re-install a fresh OS.

If this doesn't help either, try changing the RAM memory.

If that doesn't help either, it means your hard disk's boot sector is damaged. There are solutions for this too, but I think there is a big chance you won't get to this point.

Hi Angela ,
You' re probably facing a power or usb issue . Consider opening the enclosure ( will be lost , i presume ) and placing the drive in an external usb box ( available in any computer store starting from 20 $ ) to be reconnected to your pc . If this doesn' t help , it means your device is dead . There then still is a small opportunity to recover the lost data by using a recovery software like Recuva ( free ) or TenorShare Recovery ( payable ) .
This should help you solving your issue .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .

Drive Being Recognized as Removable Disk

Same issue with my 500 GB TFD500U16. A little more description is that my PC is detecting the power when turning on the drive and the HDD itself is spinning up. Also the Blue light that normally indicates HDD activity by turning Red no longer shows activity but just stays Blue. This indicates that the data side of the HDD is not seated properly. Since mine is out of Warranty, I took it apart and found this to be the exact case.
! ! ! ! Please perform this at your own risk ! ! ! ! Especially if your warranty is still in effect! ! ! By loosening the HDD mounting screws inside that will allow the connection to seat properly and data to be seen.
