hi, normally that because the power supply unit cannot supply the required voltages for various components on the TV , from back-light inverter to logic board etc...
What your describing is symptoms of a power surge, Many LCD Tv's are sensative to Slight fluctuation in power during rain, thunder and lightning storms, i myself was happily watching Tv through such a storm at one time, and when i went to bed the TV would not respond remotely or manually, i also disconnected the power from the wall waited for the ready light to disolve and try to turn on, unfortunatley the damage was done, a Tv Repair was nessecary and since then i now use a belkin power surge protector board for my TV and appliances......one question to you is i would guarantee you do not use a surge protection my friend......and your set will need a Tv Repair, it is not major as what is neccesary is a firmware dump on the internal memory and replace the BIOS Battery as well.
Hi, please call a specialist in that for assistance. As of now and future: Follow what everyone says: "Turn off the modem and TV during a lightning storm".
Just as our modern sets can remember user settings when the AC goes off, they well may record error conditions for an extended length of time too just as our cars do.
Flash memory (used in such applications and only type used in digital cameras for example) can keep information for a very long time.
Even if not used in your set, there is surely backup provisions that can keep info handy for days and possibly weeks by using components that mimic batteries to retain even standard memory for weeks.
Most PCs have provisions for discharging this kind of circuit which then resets possible stored error conditions and returns stored values to factory conditions.
Feel lucky this time I'd say.
