Question about Kenwood KDC-122 CD Player

1 Answer

I have a Kenwood KDC 122p I took from one truck and installed into another. It sounded great when I pulled it, but now it gives all apearances that it is working fine, except I get no sound from the speakers. It is a ford expedition. The speakers metered out at 55 ohms each. It will tune in radio stations and play the CD just fine. Not even a pop from the speakers. I followed the wiring from the manual. Any ideas?

That sounds like too high resistance for the speakers. They should be around 4 ohms.

Have a kdc-x596, just installed and in the seek mode for AM does not pick up any stations. Locks on to FM fine. What gives?

Sounds like you didn't have the BLUE power antenna wire hooked up. Pull out the radio to confirm. The BLUE wire (from aftermarket radio) will turn on an antenna booster if there is one in the car. What car is this in?

I just intalled my head unit and every thing looks great except that in all but the hd source has no sound. The radio works great, but the cd and ipod and aux have no sound whatsoever. They apear to read...

It sounds like you are running your audio through an amplifier. If this is the case, make sure you are using the blue/white wire to turn the amp on instead of the blue wire. The blue wire is power antenna remote and turns off when leaving tuner mode. The blue/white is amplifier remote turn on.

I want to hard wire (not using any kind of wireless gadget) my ipod in to my car to the Kenwood KDC 334 CD player which is installed. I have pulled the Kenwood unit out and there is no obvious connection,...

The KDC 334 doesn't have any audio input, so there's nowhere to hardwire an iPod or other mp3 player into the unit.

I'm sorry, but the only way to get iPod sound to come through this head unit is with a wireless gadget like the iTip FM adaptor.

Need color codes for a kenwood kdc- 122p head unit in dash.

Hi there,
Generally you can find these manuals freely available at the manufacturers website, however it usually take ages worth of searching and i thought id save you the hassle,
Head to this link for your units entire manual.. Page 17 i think it is exactly.
http://www.cartoys.com/cartoy/pdfs/kdc-122s_manual.pdf

There a good little unit but sold a few when i was working in the industry.

Otherwise generally you can pick up pre wired pugs that adapt the cars harness via one plug to the back of the stereo avoiding any splicing. If youre interested in them head to this website,

Hope this helps,
Have a happy easter
