Ink waste Absorber

"The waste ink tank absorber is in fact a sponge located under the place where the cartridges "park" (usually right side of the printer). "

I found that part and it has been cleaned, but the waste ink absorber message still shows when the printer is switched on. What so I do?

  • cfd4 May 12, 2008

Say's waste ink pad is full. will not print.

  • jkbailanda Jun 22, 2008

With the message Waste Ink Absorber full, the printer cannot print at all. But the manual has nothing to do with replacing or emptying the waste ink absorber. So what do I do?

You are correct about the waste ink tank, did you check the pipe (if any)which use to carry the ink to waste tank,if it is clogged than also the problem will arise.

I have a canon MP520 - its been warning me for quite a while that the absorber is almost full. Now it has stopped working at all - saying that the absorber is full. How can i clean the waste...

There are ink absorbers located at both ends of the printer where the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the ink cartridges and print head moves to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place it inside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of the printer to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissue a few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Close the lid and the printer should now function normally.

Hello worldvet, the cleaning of the waste ink absorber in the W7200 from Canon...

Hello,

Things you will need.
Needle nose pliers.
Paper towels
97% rubbing alcohol
Plastic gloves.
Flashlight
Disposable waste container, lined with plastic.
Disposable plastic tray about 6x9 or thereabouts.
Plenty of ventilation, outside if need be.

a. With the printer on, open this lid as if to change cartridges.

b. Turn Printer off. Unplug the printer. Unattach the communication cable. You will be moving it to a work area with excellent ventilation, such as outside.

c. At the far right where the the cartridges normally park themselves when not printing you will see a platform with rectangular compartments. When the cartridges park, this platform rises, seals off the nozzle area and captures any leaking ink, which till happens today.

d. Examine the platform with your flashlight and you will see what looks like sponges in the compartments. This material with holes in it, like a sponge, is plastic.Put on your gloves.

e. Place a paper towel folded over on itself underneath this platform as best you can to catch any spilling ink.

f. Use paper towels soaked in alcohol slightly and your needle nose pliers to push
the paper towel into each compartment, gently at first, until the majority of ink is
removed.

g. This will take quite a long time and plenty of paper towels and patience. So be
patient and ready for the long haul. Avoid smoking and the fumes.

h. At some point the sponge material, itself, may become dislodged and loose.

When you witness this, go ahead and remove it carefully using your needle nose
pliers and place it on some paper towels placed inside your disposable plastic tray.

i When you have one or both, if needed or more sponges removed and in the tray,
pour alcohol over these until the ink runs pretty thin. Leave to everything to dry.

i. Use a paper towel damp with alcohol and your pliers to clean out the compartment and its sides as best you can.

j. When you have completed these tasks allow the compartments and sponges to dry.

k. You are ready to reassemble the sponges into the compartments. Do so now.

l. Nearly done; take a towel wet with alcohol and hold it very gently against the bottom of the ink cartridge until ink flows freely onto the paper towel. If its stubborn, knock

the cartridge gently but sharply against a hard surface with the alcohol soaked towel held against the nozzle area.

k. Re insert the cartridges now.

l. Return the printer to its working location, attach power, attache the comm cable and with the lid closed apply power.

m. Run your printer through its normal setup routine, deep clean the print heads, run a nozzle check and finally do a print head alignment.

m. Your Printer is now ready to be used again.

Thank you,
Worldvet

Ink leaking from right hand side where all the cartridges are. 1 year old machine never a problem until now model 610 fax/printer/copy

When the print-heads are in their "resting" position, they are over the "waste-ink-absorber".
If that absorber is full, it will leak. So, take some paper towels, or sponges, and press them on top of that "waste-ink-absorber", to remove the ink.

Waste ink absorber full

Open your printer.

To protect hands from Ink wear thin latex (or similar) gloves
.

Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer
. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.

You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull
.

Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area
.

There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.

Carefully replace the holder and the pads
. Close printer.

Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power
.

Release the power button
.

Press the power button again
.

Ink absorber (sponge part)

There are two possible reasons for an error ink absorber full. First, is the ink absorber pads is actually full of waste ink and needs cleaning. The second is to reset the printer to clear the error and let the printer print again.

Clean the two absorber pads
. Its is actually two absorber pads located on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges when it is in home base position.
How to access the pads and remove it for cleaning?
Turn on the printer. Lift the top cover to expose the ink cartridges. As soon as you lift up the cover the cartridge carrier will move away from its home base.. Then the pads will be exposed. It will be a dirty job so be prepared with your tweezer and extra cloth for some ink spill. Using the tweezer, lift up the pads sitting on a rubber retainer. The pads can be easily clean by placing it under a running water. Warm water will be nice to remove the ink from the pads. After this, you can now return the pads. However, the problem will not be solve especially if you are currently facing the waste ink absorber full error.

Reset the Printer using an MP Tool
Mp Tools are utilities designed to clear errors that will appear in an MP150 printer. Download this MP Tools here.
while the printer is on Run this software
1. Click Reset Main (main) to reset the waste ink counter and
2.
Click Reset Platen button (E27).

If errors still persist.
Press and Hold down Reset button and wait until the printer restart.
Release the Reset button and wait until it fully initialize.

Happy printing.

Waste ink absorber full

Open the lid of your printer. Find where the cartridge slot is located when cartridges are not printing. Usually it's either on the left or the right end of the printer. There, you will see 2 sponges. Take plenty of tissues or some toilet paper and clean the waste ink absorber. May be a bit messy, so you can put gloves on. When you're done, put the cartridges back in (clean them too, if necessary), and please let me know if you still can't print.

Well under where the Ink heads "Park" there is a "waste ink absorber" pad type thing. This needs to be "emptied". You need to look in tour manual for exact instructions.

How do I find the waste ink absorber

The waste ink absorber is usually in the right side of the printer where the cartridges reside when the computer is off. To find the waste ink absorber you need to lift the cover of the printer remove the screws or some printer unlock the clip to remove the cover. After you remove the cover in the right side of the printer. The waste ink absorber is in the bottom of the printer head. Some printer you need first to remove the head before you can remove the waste ink absorber. The waste ink absorber is like a foam that we using in the dish washing you can wash and dry also. But before you can remove the waste ink absorber try first to solve the problem by using some guide how to reset the waste ink absorber problem. If you encounter this search in the internet about how to reset the waste ink absorber.
