Want to update maps

You can update the GPS devices with simple & latest method For more detail you can visit at Garmin map update.

Depending on how long ago you got the maps you may be able to download them again.

1. Go to www.garmin.com and log into myGarmin.
   
2. When you're logged in click on the myMaps tab
3. There you will see the maps you bought and under them the word "Details" in small blue writing. There may also be a message to say that there's an UPDATE AVAILABLE
   
4. Click on DETAILS and this will bring you to a screen where you get the option to download the maps again for a limited length of time.
   

If the time limit has passed your only option is to buy an update. To do this go back to where it said UPDATE AVAILABLE and click on it. Follow the prompts.

With the unit off...... using the USB connector, connect the GPS to your computer

now go to www.MyGarmin.com...... it will then detect you unit and update any map or firmware..

if it doesnt look for the Garmin contact phone number on top of page

Plug in the Nuvi using the USB Cable to a computer

If you havent joined or registered the Nuvi yet you can do it here to get your Map and Firmware updates.

Go to www.MyGarmin.com

It will then detect your unit and give you the latest updates

Garman gives you one free update for maps - if you download them within 30 days. Otherwise you have to pay.
To find out what you need. Use the usb cord provided with the unit and plug it into your pc. Go online to the GARMIN website and download the manager. From there it is just follow the prompts. You might Email and ask GARMIN to give you one free update for maps? The firmware updates and other updates such as POI are free.

The Garmin GPS are among the easiest to use and they have the most complete mapping on the market. To update the mapping, there are several versions of the software integrated into these road gps. To name a few, city navigator version 8 and City Navigator 2008. With a newer version, you have the most recently built streets, new shops, new parking lots, etc.. To update, there are several ways to proceed. First, before you update your maps, I recommend you check if there is a newer version of the maps, visit garmin and download the plugin. You can also view the maps version directly on your gps.

Does it recognise the Nuvi? Are you connecting it through a usb Hub. Are the drivers for the nuvi installed properly? Usually there is a folder named USB, thats where the correct drivers reside, and that's where you tell the computer to look when it asks for the drivers.
