I plugged it into my computer via USB and then installed the program. I think windows installed a driver for it.
Then I tried putting safety cameras on it but then didn't bother with it and unplugged the tom tom from the computer. I then Turned it on and it shoes a image like this one here
when i turn it on, a thing shows when the card is being pulled out of the tom tom then a cross it being draw on it like the one in the image above ^
I have tried resetting it several times and then it make the memory card (SD) coded and when i read the files on thew computer they have a strange code on them and i don't understand it. the files are all 0kb and when i try opening them it says it could not read from disk.
After that i formatted the memory card and put on 1 voice and 1 map using the tom tom home program. And now i don't know what to do. Please help I'm desperate plus it's not even mine. :help: :help:

For the TomTom One XL GPS, you can use any SD card that is 512MB or 1 GB in size. It doesn't support SD cards with larger storage, e.g. 2 GB, 4GB, etc.
You can buy these SD cards at many stores that sell memory cards, e.g. for digital cameras, etc. If you can find/buy an SD card categorize as Class 10, it is faster than one that is Class 4. You wouldn't want to go below Class 4 unless you can tolerate slower performance/speed on the GPS device.
No. ipad does not have sdcard or micro-SD card slot to transfer to external device.
Verify what type of memory is used on your Tomtom Start 25. Also verify the max capacity and speed supported.
Prefer a laptop with sdcard carrier with micro-SD to download and transfer file physically or download to pc and transfer via usb cable. See page 95 of the attached manual
It may be likely that the TF (SD) card is not being read properly or has been damaged/corrupted. Try to read that SD card on your computer (i.e. not using the GPS) ... and see if it works. And/or use the Properties - Tool - Check Disks tool to "recover/fix" the SD card (on your PC).
Hi, First you need to have the relivent map on your SD card. Typicly this will be the Tomtom Map " Western Europe ". When you purchase maps from TomTom you also get an activation code and instructions telling you how to install the map onto your device and how to authorise it using the code that comes with it. Before doing anything ... BACK-UP your existing data ( the whole SD card ) onto your computer . This will ensure that if any update is unsuccesful you can at least return things to the way they were before you tried to update. There are several ways to obtain maps
buy a new TOMTOM SD card for your tomtom that containes the required maps. Make sure it comes with the authorisation card.
buy a CD from TomTom or a TomTom authorised dealer . This CD will contain the required map so you can download the required map to your own SD card. Make sure it comes with the authorisation code AND instructions.
buy the required map from TomTom online . You can download it to your PC , then copy it onto your SD card later. It will come with some instructions and authorisation code ...... You can also use "TomTom Home" software and this does most of the job of downloading maps ( that you buy from tomtom ) and puts them onto your sd card for you in a semi-automatic way . If you go down this route then its best to be sure you have the latest version of TomTom home software by going to the TomTom website first.
With ANY of the above methods------- BACK UP your existing SD card first . In fact ... make a BACK UP NOW , then if anything goes wrong at any time , you can at least revert back to your backup.
If you have TomTom that have the slot for SD card, then it should accepted the SD card. The instruction for how to use the SD card is simple, but it is hidden in the TomTom Home, that's why it's difficult to find it. Below are the instruction how to use the SD card.
1. Format the SD card (FAT32) and do not stick the SD in the slot yet
2. Run Backup (connect TomTom device to computer)
3. Disconnect TomTom from computer and turn off
4. Slide the SD into the slot and connect TomTom back to computer (choose "yes")
5. In the TomTom Home menu, Choosen Backup & Restore >>> and choosen Restore
TomTom Home will add all applications to the SD card. So the internal memory still have the applications and the SD card also had the same applications. Everytime you slide the card in, TomTom will automatic detect and use it as its primary storage, if it not detect, you can go to the device menu and pick the device to connect to.
Whenver you take the SD card out, then TomTom will use its internal memory.
The DATA on your SD card has become corrupt or the SD card itself has become damaged / faulty. ..... Hopefully , some time back , you backed up your SD card to your computer ? . All you need do is format the card and then reload the files from your PC . If the tomtom still doesnt load up then you would need to purchase a NEW BLANK SD card and reload your backup onto it. If that doesnt solve your problem and if unfortunatly you didn't back up the original card then you will need to purchase a NEW TOMTOM SD card with activation code . Bad news and a learning process , always back up your tomtom card !
The way the TomTom One works (unfortunately) is that it reads either from the SD slot of from internal memory, but not both. So you can't have the SD act as supplemental memory. I had the same problem and was pretty peeved about it. You would have to spring for a more expensive model to get this feature :S
You may have not written the entire program to the SD card. If you saved the program prior to the upgrade, start tomtom home program and reinstall the program. then upgrade again. The tomtom home program is not as user friendly as you would hope. Also turn the unit off, take out the card and then reinsert and turn the unit on again.
