Our microwave is almost 4 years old and we have never had a problem until now. It will only stay on for about 40 seconds before it shuts off. We can set it on popcorn mode and it will stay on for about 40 seconds before it shuts off by itself. I am also having trouble finding a shop that will look at it. I took it in to the shop payed to have it checked out because I was told the magnetron is replaced by panasonic for up to 5 years. So I took it in and its the magnetron tube not the magnetron. So that whould cost me 139 dollars to fix a 4 year old microwave. And it came on for about 10 seconds and then shuts off like yours does.

Sorry to tell you this but some ones has to. Your unit is shot. the cost of repair out weights the cost of a new one. you can get a basic unitn 800 wates for a bout 89.00 you cant repair for that. Try looking at Thrift store;s you can find good clean working microwaves for $25.00 or less no kidding. happy hunting DFD
The magnatron is covered by warranty for 5 years and I just spoke with an authorized Panasonic repair center who said the inverter is covered on this unit depending on the manufacture date, like april 04 to october 05 approximately.

Hi, if it went dead while it was in use, then it sounds like the HV section (magnetron, HV diode, inverter section - if used, etc) has failed, possibly only economic to fix if it is a convection microwave.
