Neptune washer shows error code od. modle #fav6800aww
Maytag's service center emailed me back saying that I needed to purchase a magnet for the right side of the lid, even after I sent them photos of the lid. There is no magnet on the right side, so don't be fooled! The lid comes apart fairly easily. First, with a screwdriver, apply a little downward pressure and pry out the center liquid/powder holder. It is hinged on the bottom and will come right out. Next, pull out on the bottom corners and the lid liner will come straight down. Now you can verify that the magnet (on the left side!) is there and seated correctly. If that is the case, go ahead and reassemble. Unplug the washer. Lift up the top portion of the washer (at the crease). You may need a screwdriver to pry up on it. I didn't. I just pulled up on it. It comes up fairly easily. Now you can see the locks, mounted with one bolt on either side. Inspect the wiring for any wear or damage. Next, remove the locks one at a time, unhook the wire connector and plug them back in. Reassemble. Leave the lid up (not sure if it matters, but I did) and plug the washer back in. That's all I did and it worked! The "od" alarm didn't come back.
Washing machine would not start, just shows error code "od" - How can I resolve this?
Thanks
If od code appears, that means at the end of the cycle, the machine considered the door was not opened even though you opened the door already but the 'end' display still on. That's why it won't start a new cycle. The easiest fix for me is to pull the little black button out (the little black button is located above the door latch).
extremely helpful,it fixed my washer. to the exact. thank you, it was a simple task.

OK...i had the same od or OP error code and read all the posts. My wife called for a service repair and the tech said a "board" had to be replaced and that it would be $600 to repair.
In the end here's what I did to fix the issue - I pried the bottom portion of the top lid away (you can't be shy...you have to use some umpf). I doesn't completely open up but it does expose the key item - the magnet on the left side had come out of it's little plastic seat. Without the magnet in place...the door won't lock and thus the error code.
I have been using the washer for a week now (with the lid still seperated) with no errors so in a while I will seat the magnet properly with some blackmax (superglue).
I think the cause for many people's intermittent diagnosis of the problem is that once the magnet comes out of seat...it could happen (through opening/closing the door) to misalign itself one day...and the next be OK.
Good luck everyone...hope this helps!
I just fixed mine. 1. Remove top. 2. remove left side lock accuator. 3. open accuator case. 4. Solder small broken wire back to diode. 4. reassemble 5. enjoy.
The error code od means only that the machine was run for three straight complete cycles without opening the lid. Just have to open the lid to get started again.
I fixed the problem on my own and I'm a little old lady. Once I figured it out, it took about 2 seconds. The lid has magnets on either side that lock the lid. Poke something GENTLY into the hole on the LEFT SIDE. The magnet gets unaligned and it just needs a little nudge to realign it. Easy peasy.
