Maytag dryer stopped working (model SDE30DAYW - electric). Worked fine, dried a load of clothes, put the next load in and it won't start. Dryer light works when door is open. Checked circuit breakers and that's fine.
Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.
To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning
Yes! This also solved my problem. Closed the door pushing it where the switch is. Pressed a little extra hard. Dryer started working. Brilliant! But shame on Maytag and other American manufacturers for the garbage they make these days.

Jiggled the slot where the door tab connects to the dryer (used a paperclip), held the botton in that turns off the light (to simulate the dryer door is closed) and pressed "start" - works like a charm!!! Saved met LOTS of $$ for the service call - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
