Can't find driver compatible with windows vista for D-540 Zoom

My old computer crashed and along with it went the driver for my camera. My new computer has Windows Vista where as my old one had Windows XP. Where can I find and download free, the driver that is compatible with Windows Vista?

My computer had to have a new hard drive and mother board.

My camera worked fine with the computer before this was done.

No it says driver can not be found, even after it searches for it.

    I have Windows Vista

Weird.. I got this same camera secondhand as a gift without a driver or anything, and didn't need one...just plugged the USB in my computer's USB port (and its not even the original USB, found one that happened to fit the camera in my junk drawer!) And it uploads pics just fine.. I didn't need a driver, apparently the software is built into the camera itself so I didn't have to install a thing. (my camera the Olympus D-540 zoom, 3.2 MP with "Camedia" above the model # on the front). Then again, we have a brand-new comp (HP) so it has the latest version of Vista so maybe that makes a difference... Anyway It works for me without a driver installed, good luck!

By the way you don't need a new driver. You have it on the Vista , but you have to remove the old bad driver first.

Driver for Pretec DC-300 Digital Camera for Windows Vista

Try this:

Uninstall the driver (if installed). Next, put in the driver CD and browse to the setup.exe file. Right click and select properties. In the box that opens, select compatibilty tab and select the box next to "runthis program in compatibilty mode for" and select XP SP2. and install the program

Should that not work, uninstall and retry the above process, but select Windows 98 or 2000 this time..Hopefully that will work.

If it still does not work, then unfortunately, you will either have to downgrade to XP (I believe the driver works for XP) or buy a new camera altogether..

Windows xp vs window vista ---SOFTWARE

Hello, normally the best way would be to go to the manufacturer's website, which I did but they do not address drivers support for Vista OS, might want to do a search for the camera's drivers and chek to see if there are any compatible 3rd party drivers available, hope this little info helps.

New computer .. old printer

You're right they don't support your model in Vista. I would suggest trying the X6170 driver, which is available. I'm a betting man, and I bet it will work fine with yours.

I have been using a smart business pack for quite some time now. Recently my computer crashed and I had to purchase a new one. My old operating system was windows XP. My new operating system is Windows...

Hi,

is there a problem with installation or the data reading?

If its installation problem, you can try installing it in compatibility mode for windows xp sp2 (right click the setup executable and you'll find a property page for compatibility mode)

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Olympus Camedia 4.0/ C-4000 Zoom and Windows Vista Operating System

Doubt the software will work on Vista. If you do have the disk, before you click on the install program, right click it and use the "XP compatability" mode. I would dual boot to an XP partition to take care of all your XP needs. Its a bummer but that is what Im doing...

Olympus D-540

I'm actually surprised it's needing drivers. I've never had a problem with my d-540 being recognized in 2000 or XP, but perhaps Vista is different. An alternative might be to use a card reader.
