I fully charge the batteries with Duracell charger (until light is green), and when I put them in my digital camera, the camera display shows the batteries are low, and they run out of power about 1/4 of the time they should. These are brand new batteries, and I have bought 2 sets, thinking the first set was defective - still having the same problem. My older Duracell Nimh batteries work just fine.

Well you mentioned that it worked fine yesterday with the battery out of the box. That should tell you that the camera and the battery are both fine. The issue is likely the charger itself. Try recharging it again, and double check that you inserted the batteries correctly, and that any switches (such as for 2 or 4 battery charge) are set in the correct position on the charger. If this doesn't work, take the charger back to the store for exchange/refund as defective.
the charger light detect the battery level charge, shows red when charging and green when fully charged.when the charger light is not lit,may be the battery dosnt hold any charge that means its likely that the battery is defective
It happened to me. I fixed it by luck . Here is my way . fully charge the camera till the led turns green. "IMPORTANT" unplug the power of the charger first, then remove the camera from the cradle . Then I pressed power button, it worked.
Wish good luck to you too

with Nimh batteries you can charge them anytime, you dont have to run them down first like nicads. just put the batteries in the charger with the flat end (-) against the spring and plug it in. some models have a red light to show its chargeing and a green one to show its fully charged while others just have a light to show it is chargeing.
THis is really a sign of a bad battery that is always being detected fully charge but its really drian , so it will be better for you to replace that battery.....
I would let them charge til you get an indication that they are done. TV remotes require very little power to operate, while digital cameras need a lot, so that's why the batteries would work in the remotes though not fully charged.
As batteries are recharged- they develop a 'memory' That is to say starting with a new fully charged battery- the 'low' light may come in when the voltage drops below a certain value.
The battery is not however fully discharged.
It could have say 25% residual in it.
When recharging- the charger is charging the 75% only, and on the next recharge- that mush less again until the battery is only offering a small percentage of its capacity.
The answer is to put the low battery in a simple device - a torch - until it is completely down
Then recharge - you will then get the full capacity of the battery.
