Why does my denon dbp 2010 ci freeze up? im using an integra 9.8 preamp. and im using hdmi cables for the hookup.this is my new denon blu ray player that i bought in april of 2010. also why does my player so slow in getting to the movie. it takes a while when im playing blu ray movies. standard dvds load much faster. is my new player defective? im also using a rotel amp to drive my bw . speakers and my hdmi cables are straightwire brand.

Appears to be a software problem. Unfortunately, some blu-ray players contain software that expires, requiring you to repurchase newer, more expensive software from the manufacturer in order to continue to play blu-ray discs. Check your software for the player. No freeware blu-ray software out there.

If you have audio out jacks from your tv, you would be better served hooking that up to the preamp. If you hook up the blu-ray player separately to both the tv and amp, the audio probably will not sync with the video correctly. The tv takes longer to decode the hdmi input and the audio will be ahead.

Dont have the dvd player in question : try this not sure if it'll work so come back and let me know

It's the other way around.

Hook up the Cable box to the Amp; and the blu-ray to the amp, then connect amp to LCD.

you want to use the best available options for audio:
HDMI > Digital Optical > Digital Coax > standard RCA

And the similar for video:
HDMI > Component > SVideo > RCA cables

I would connect Blu-Ray via HDMI to Amp, and Cable box via HDMI to Amp. If your cable box does NOT support HDMI, but you have an HD package, ask your cable company for an upgraded box.

Yes select audio optical out on your Blu Ray Player under Audio settings and make sure the Denon is set to Optical or Auto in. You should be set to go
