You are asking because you got a message like this: parts inside my printer are reaching their end of service life?Read about it at this link:http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Storesupport/InkPadsForm.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes. 4 options: 1. Reset the printer with the utility above (after realizing that IF the pads are actually near full, which I've only seen once, ink will start overflowing onto your desk sometime in the future (put the printer on a baking pan for safety). 2a. Replace pads yourself (a pain and cost more than the printer is worth) parts drawing and parts are available at:http://www.compassmicro.com/ The rest is disassembly- either the service manual - you might find free (or a YouTube video), but definitely for $ at:http://www.2manuals.com/index.php?cPath=2_39 JUST DON'T TRY DOING THIS WITHOUT some guidance- you will end up at option 3 eventuallyif you do this you will still need to do # 1 to reset the counter2b. Have service firm do it ( way more than the printer is worth) 3a.If you really "love" that C84, or have a bunch of ink - look on Craigslist or ebay 3b. Buy "refurbished" epson printer with warranty, inks and probably free shipping at:http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/EsHome.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes
By "dismantle" I take you to mean complete disassembly or "tear-down" of the printer, which is pretty much what you have to do if you intend to try to work on any internal component. Inkjet printers are not designed to be repaired, which means everything is assembled to not be unassembled. Manufacturers intend fotr you to buy a new one, and price them cheap so you can (the real profit is the cartridges). Hence, no "Service Guide" exists. I've done this on a few Epsons and hps, so you just have to fly blind. The real trick is piutting it back together!
If you are sure that no scraps of paper (or other object) is jamming the paper feed path, you will need to dismantle the printer to investigate further. This is really a job for a technician; however, if you want to have a try yourself, you can download the service manual from here:
Have you tried running head-cleaning cycles? If not, try 2 or 3 followed by a nozzle check and see if magenta starts to appear. If this still produces no magenta print, or you've already tried this with no success, report back.
Yes they can - if you can get the parts without paying more than the cost of a new printer. Watch on E-Bay for a faulty C8x printer and buy it - the chance of it being faulty for the same reason as yours is negligible. Then just transfer the parts to your printer.
To assist you in this process, the C64/84 service manual may be downloaded from:
which provides instructions on dis-assembling the printer. However, Epson's understanding of the word "instructions" does not necessarily correlate with that of normal people. So, if you wish for further help, please post a new comment to this effect.
Epson Stylus C84
Visit the link below, which should take you stright to the download page, where you will find the lastest drivers that support Windows Vista.
Just download and install the vista driver for the above printer.
Hello Carla, can you manually clean the heads where the ink delivers the printer. Try using the printers own program first then do a manual clean with proper cleaning solution if this will not work.
