A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water.

Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.

My newly installed dishwasher won't drain, what could be the cause?

If the dishwasher is connected to a spigot on the waste under the sink, check that the end has been cut off the spigot (on the plumbing not the machine hose) or that end stoppers have been removed. Also, check the hose has not been crushed when installed.

Bottom dishwasher of fisher and paykel wont drain

Check the filter sump is clear and there are no blockages in the rotor cavity. If you hear the rotor noise when it is in drain cycle then blockage is inside the rotor or filter sump cavity. Assuming the top drawer is working ok, the drain hose at kitchen end might be ok. The drain hose within the drawer could also be an issue. Try to run the dishwasher with a Finish dishwasher cleaning kit (from super market) after following the instructions on the kit. First empty dishwasher with a small cup.
If the rotor is silent during drain cycle then you have a bigger problem - faulty rotor circuit.

The drain valve is not repairable Pump and Motor Assembly If the dishwasher won't drain, the pump and motor assembly might be defective. If the motor runs during the drain cycle, check for a blockage in the drain line. If the motor won't run during the drain cycle or if it just hums when it should be running, the pump and motor assembly might need to be replaced.

Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the plug will need to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently, remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. Water leaking on to floor from dish washer. dishes not clean at end of cycle

You are going to need to verify the drain system on your unit.

Is the hose routed to the very top of the undercounter area, if not you can easily get other drain fluids into the dishwasher.

You need to verify the volume water that is coming out of the drain hose. Screens and hoses plug easily, in dishwashers.

It is obvious the drain or pump out is not working. There is a blockage in the outlet. Check the drain under the sink nby removing the hose and making sure the hole is not blocked. The pump in the dishwasher may be blocked. fixing this may not be within your field of expertise and a technician may be needed. Good luck

Dishwasher is not cleaning dishes. Dishwasher

One possibility is that there is collection of waste inside the drain pump and filter. If you have cleaned these parts as per instructions in the user guide and there is no difference, then try using a dishwasher cleaner which is available as a liquid in a special dispenser for one off use in an empty dishwasher. This is available in the supermarket.

Hard to know what the plumbing changes were done, but if the dishwasher was taken out and put back in then make sure the drain hose is connected at the correct height. The pump might be working harder than previously which would leave the muck behind.
