What is making a rattle noise in the front?

Check all the bushings and make sure they are not loose. General Motors bushings are prone to cracking.

Front suspension noise-dull rattle-thumping sound,bumpy roads

look at the front lower engine mount. I had similar noise which has been driving me nuts, thought may be thesway bar links, put it on friends hoist and saw that the front engine mount (mounted to bottom of lower radiator support) was cracked and the rubber bushing inside very worn with pieces missing. odd thing is that reving, or putting into gear never caused it to make a noise, just certain bumps. I ordered part from Autozone, hopefully it gets here before the holiday week end is over.
Good luck

What is the rattling and thumping sound coming from my front suspension when I go over bumpy roads on my 2002 ford taurus. I changed the struts.

have you checked the sway bar links? they are a common failure. grab hold of the ends of the sway bar, and try to push up and down - hard. any clunking felt indicates a worn ball and socket joint in the link, and the link will need to be replaced. good luck!

Rattle/clunk front end of a 2001 grand caravan

Front stabilizer/sway bar bushings sound worn. I had same, on my 91'. Felt like someone was thumping the floor under my feet sometimes. I managed to get away with spinning the outer ones at control arms, but replaced ones in middle at frame.

Their is a air ride on these cars and yes it sounds like the strut is hitting when going up and down over bumps.

2005 thumping/rattle front end.

450-$60 per upper strut mount at autozone, and probably 1hr. to 1-1/2 hrs.per side to replace it. Depending on your labor rate in your area. Would recommend alignment after too. Usually if your going to do one, do the other too, because it won't be too far behind the first one to clunk, and then you end up paying for another alignment too. Here's a site that may help, if not exactly what your getting done, pick closest for rough estimate, just add, or subtract parts/labor your not, or are getting done. ( repairpal.com )
