Asus a7n8x MB and ram

Can i use 2x1gb ddr400 pc3200 ram with my asus a7n8x motherboard and 3.2gb xp amd athlon cpu?
I have checked several online ram specialist and they all
recomend 2x1gb ddr33 pc2700 ram.
My motherboard manual states that it's max is 3x1gb ddr400 pc3200 ram and because this is a very old pc asus are not too quick at responding to my query.

Hyhcan i fit a bigger processor to the asus K8V-MX Motherboard and more ram

Your motherboard can take any AMD Athlon CPU (this does not include the newer multi core or Athlon 2 CPU's), as well as up to 2 gigabytes of DDR400/333/266, ECC, non-ECC, un-buffered memory. That memory has to be split between 2 dimms as the motherboard will not work with a single dimm of that size. Also, ensure that when you do put memory in that the 2 memory sticks are exactly the same.

Abit NF7-s - hynix ram support problem

The problem probably is you mixing fsb speed, all the cards should
be pc3200 or all of them should be pc2700.

You don't mix.

My AMD 3200+ 400/333 chip has died, what can I replace it with? The motherboard is an Asus A7N8X.

Anything in AMDs Socket A line of processors should work.

The AMD Athlon XP 3200 was one of the best processors that would work in that board. Good luck finding one though.

Memory upgarade

Yes, it will work. Remember that all memory will operate at the speed of the slowest memory though so unless you're completely replacing the memory it won't increase the speed of the memory.

I want to add more ram in my pc km400/km266

Oddly enough this board has the following specs: The board supports both Althon and Duron processors up to Athlon XP 2800+ (3000+ with a BIOS update). It can handle 3 GB of DDR333 RAM (or 2 GB of DDR400, but not all types are supported).
That's the older 184pin DDR ram in PC2700 or PC3200 guises. I can see no reason why it would only accept 2gb of the faster Ram.
Why not go over to www.crucial.com  and run the online scan to get the true story on your board?

Max. AMD for Asus A7N8X-X

Find the manual online.  Also, your question is foolish in light of the much better efficiency of new multi-core systems and general inavailability of AMD Athlon XP 3200+ in socket-7 form; it's not like you'd save money changing CPUs, or your system would merely fake it for a few days if you put in an XP 3200+ (in the socket that fits!) you had set aside, and it did work.  On the other hand, XP2600+ overclock pretty well.

Pc upgrade !

IAN.S

Where you need to be is on Asus web site. Your board can handle ONLY; Athlon XP 3200+(400 MHz FSB)(Model 10)(Barton), AXDA3200BOX
With that CPU you must also have bios version 1004.
Check PCB and BIOS versions before flashing BIOS!
asus A7N8X supported CPU click here; http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=A7N8X

Since you seem to need your manual. Click the link:
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/nforce2/a7n8x/e1859_a7n8x.pdf

You do not have an intergrated video card. You have a 1.5v 8x
AGP video slot.
I suggest you call Asus & make sure your CPU model AXDA3200DKV4E will be supported over model AXDA3200BOX.
You can call Asus tech M-F EST at 812-282-2787.

Good luck & Have a great day!
