Hello the Dictaphone 2740 does not have the option for telephone record or conference recording you need the Model that is really similar to the 2740 the model is 2750 this model has telephone record option and conference record capable.

Note: for telephone record you need to buy a separate adaptor like this ECS-DPRC

Hello yes it is. Walkabout Transfer Software, version 1.5.2, is required for the WA5220 portable. Backwards-compatible with WA5210/5215(DS) portables. Windows 7 compatible. I have a Dictaphone Desktop Voice Processor Model 2720 and it won't play the tapes. It will rewind and fastforward but not play. I don't have the manual. Does anyone know if I'm not doing something right?

It's possible the play capstan belt is broken - or the main capstan motor is stalled.

Dictaphone use for Medical Transcription

You'll need a digital recorder (Dictaphone makes one - a Walkabout Model 5220). Transferring a recording from an analog (tape) machine to a PC requires a patch cord to hook it up to your PC, then some sort of software to record it while it's playing back.

20 year old Dictaphone Voice Processor Microcassette not working

Not sure if you're still having problems with this portable, but the first thing I would check is to make sure that you've put the batteries UNDER the battery clip in the battery compartment. Does the machine just make a 'beeping' noise when it tries to play, rew, or FF?

There is a small switch mounted ion the tape deck. You may be able to take it apart and slightly bend the switch upwards so the switch will be activated.
