Mcdevito75 here, I just hit Menu on my monitor and saw a square box with a cross in it. I fiqure this means to center the picture on the monitor, try it, or turn the monitor off, then on again and hit auto on the monitor. Hope this helps.

I have hooked my Acer 1912 monitor up to my toshiba laptop as a second screen. When I select a resolution of 1280 x 1024, the display on the monitor slides over five inches to the right and I only see half...

Friend,
On the monitor go to settings and shift the screen to the left till the display is correct. However, please check for other resolutions after you have shifted. May be the monitor is not geared up to take on 1280 X 1024. Check that as well.

It sounds like you just shifted the whole display over. I don't know how your monitor works exactly, but you should be able to use the buttons to navigate through a simple menu system, and either pan the display back to the left, or just reset to the default settings...

The screen has shifted to the right so that i cant see the [X]on any windows. Ive already maxed out the left shift but its still stuck to the right.

does the screen appear distorted;does it move as you shift left/right/up/down? IF THIS IS TRUE, YOU PROBABLYHAVE THE RESOLUTION SET WRONG....RIGHT CLICK ANYWHERE ON THE SCREEN;PROPERTIES;SETTINGS; ADJUST SLIDEBAR TO PROPER RESOLUTION FOR YOUR MONITOR

Entire image shifted

Press the Select/Auto button. The monitor will then automatically adjust to match the incoming signal and will save that setting in the internal memory of the monitor.

Display is off-center

Try the Auto adjust button on the monitor buttons first.
If the entire picture of the computer is showing you can try to shift and stretch the picture through the menu button.

Screen shift

Try setting the refresh rate to 60 Hz. (Maybe 75).
Is it xp?
Right click an empty part of the screen, properties, under monitor (I think; I'm on Vista) you can choose the refresh rate.
Most LCD's should be at 60 Hz.

Image/screen shifting with mouse position

I realized my issue was that the screen was "slightly" zoomed in using the universal access panel in the system preferences. Turning it off, or zooming out completely solved the problem.

Dimension of image change when displaying clear or dark image

Same problem Picked up this monitor about half a year ago, a Viewsonic A91f+, and have been having some issues for a while now concerning what appears to be shifting in the monitor image, but that is about the best I can describe it as. It is most noticable when a large dark area meets a light area, like text or window edges. This "shifting" only occurs on the right side of objects and seems to show most often after I switch resolutions more than a few times, usualy due to gaming. Ive also noticed it happening from running random programs that dont require resolution changing/flickers but this happens FAR less often. -photograph of the effect- As you can see, its pretty subtle on a darker background, but Ive had no luck carturing it on a light one. Anyone have any idea as to what is occuring on this monitor and how it could possibly be fixed? Possibly an issue with magnets? For a while, I did have a small headset hanging off the the monitor on the side that the images "shift" towards, but even taking those off and away havent fixed it. Currently the only fix I have found for this is to shut my monitor off for 5-30 minutes, depending on how bad the "shifting" is when I find a time break long enough to fix it.
