Headphones i cant hear my friend talking to me through my headphones but he can hear me and i dont know why

Try opening the volume control (you should find a VOLUME icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Right click on this and open volume control.
Check if the "microphone" level is down or if the mute button is checked. If it is, click on it again to uncheck and increase the microphone level to full. If you do not see the Microphone level at all, click on "options" and then "properties" and make sure microphone is checked.

Sentry headphones with mic
My mic DOES pick up stuff, we just can't quite figure out where the mic actually is so we can talk into it and actually hear us talking pretty well, we can slightly hear us talking into it in a recording, but it's so low! (we/us being me and my friend)

I have steelseries 5xb earphones for x360. When i chat my friends i wont be able to hear them. Everything else i hear gamesounds but not other player .I dont know wat to do???????
I had the same problem with the exactly same model of steelseries headphones! The only way that I could heare my friends talk was to change the settings in "preferences"-"Voice" and then change the "Voice Output" settings to "Play through Both" and then it worked. But the only problem is that when your friends talk, will the game Volume reduce and the chat volume increase. Hope it help! :)

No...you don't need the foam...that's just to filter background noises. Try adjusting the mic into different positions...and how do you talk with the mic in your mouth?

You probably just broke your controller cable. Get a new one here: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/recertified-products/ear-force-x1/livetabid/5983.aspx
The white one is newer and looks more durable, so I'd recommend that to you.

Mic wont work, i can hear friends but they cant hear me.
Can you try using the X1 mic on your PC? Green plug to green jack, pink plug to pink jack, USB plug to USB port. Talk into the X1 mic. Can you hear your voice? If yes, then you probably have a bad chat-controller cable. If no, then your X1 mic may not be working. If that's the problem, you should contact Turtle Beach tech support for help.
