DVD WONT PLAY IN LAPTOP BUT I CAN BURN AND PLAY AUDIO C'DS. I HAVE A COMPAQ PRESARIO V2000. WHEN I INSERTED DVD IT SAYS NO DVD INSERTED I CLEANED THE PLAYER AND STILL DOESN'T WORK CAN ANYONE HELP

Have you tried downloading any free dvd players from the internet? if not then try this one from www.download.com.

If the problem persists, then you are most likely having a problem with your player and might need to be cleaned or replaced.

Your DVD drive is missing the Burning Program not the driver. I found an update for your windvd software for windows 7 but you probably have to have the full program installed to run the update. Hope this helps.

DVD/CD players use two different lasers. One to read DVD and one to read CD. Sounds like your DVD laser burned out. Lasers last about as long as light bulbs do.

Try installing a DVD rom. The sony unit installed in your laptop is a cd rom/burner. Cd roms will not play DVDs.

Reading or writing DVDs is much more demanding on accuracy than CDs and even a small drift in tracking can create the situation you have. The ratio of content is about 6 or 7:1
If cleaning has not helped (as is often the case), replacing the drive may be your only choice.

somthing thats worth trying is going into my computer, right click on the cdrom drive and click eject if it works that way then its software thats stopping it from ejecting, if it still dont work take a paperclip and push it in the small hole in the cdrom drive and it will pop out its only a temporary thing but it works to get the cd out..
