When the ink absorber pads are full, you can easily remove and clean them on most Canon printers. Fill a large bowl with warm, soapy water and set it aside. Put on the rubber gloves. Open the ink cartridge compartment.

How do I clean the ink absorber?

Hi!

Unfortunately you can not clean the absorber pads, but it can be replaced with a ink absorber kit and then the machine needs to be reset, but find out the price of a new one first as this might be a cheaper option than having that one fixed!

Good Luck!

I have a Canon Pixma MX300 and when I try to print to it the PC says the ink absorber is full and the LCD on the Printer says check printer and 5B10 need help!!

Your printer has a ink absorber? All printer brands use this to prime, lube, prevent ink clogging.
So kinda like leaving your water to drip to prevent a frozen pipe.. The ink absorber is just a very strong sponge that collects this extra spilled ink and can't easily be fixed :( Can be extremely messy also.
Here's a video to show if you wanna see the trouble you'd have to go through.
Part 1
Part 2

Best to spend the money and get a new printer! Canon would be the best on the market.
Best photographic detail printing..Canon
5 separate inks - Very nice - great price!

Ink Absorber Replacement Options

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.

Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

The ink absorber is full and printer won't print.

Normally when you get the "ink absorber is full" message, you would take machine to a Canon service center. They will either clean the ink absorbers or more than likely they will replace the ink absorbers. After replacement, the ink absorber full message will have to be reset which is done in the service mode.

Printer says ''waste Ink absorber is full'' see service center

This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine. Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.
