Can't reinstall my Lexmark printer

I had to replace my ink cartridges, and after I did this, my printer quit working. I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer and it would not allow it. Got following message: Failed to create print object Lexmark 6500 series. The printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers. (1930). I tried to download new driver from Lexmark website and since I am on dialup it would not do that either. What can I do? When I tried to install I get the following message also: Device driver software was not successfully installed. When I try to download the new driver it either quits downloading because it is taking too long, or if it completes it and I try to run the program I get the following message: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel. I have been on the phone with Lexmark and online chat with them for hours. I could sure use some help.
I even tried by creating a new port and it took hours to download the update from Windows. It looked like that was going to work, but when I clicked print the window showed up that it was printing, but nothing happened on the printer.

Usually, that can easily be resolved by uninstalling the printer completely, then reinstalling it. To uninstall properly, click on the Windows logo Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 6500 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Then restart pc. To reinstall, you can use the installation cd or if you don't have it or you lost it and since you have dial-up which is slow in terms of downloading, you can contact Lexmark Technical Support for assistance. They'll be able to send you one for free. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

Lexmark x2600 reads (new) ink cartriges as empty

If the cartridges were replaced while it was empty and not using the maintenance the software will not detect . so to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can
also be poor ink cartridge contacts

I have a Lexmark x1185 and it doesn't print anymore (It worked fine a few weeks ago). I can scan with it normally though. Basically, when I turn it on, the power button flashes... I already tried...

Hello. You might want to give it a fresh start by properly uninstalling it from your computer. To uninstall the software properly on Windows 7, go to Start Menu > Programs > Lexmark Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart the pc. To reinstall, use this driver from the Lexmark website. Just click on the link: http://bit.ly/atZEM6 . Though it's a 64-bit Vista driver, it's the same driver used on Windows 7. Download and install the software.

New cartridge fitted still reads low ink.lexmark x3480

Try this... Unplug the printer from power and restore power... also, reboot the computer. if that doesn't work, try reinstalling the cartridge or reinstalling the software. If there is an option to ignore these messages, it will be in the options srction of your printer manager program.

LEXMARK TELLS ME THAT THERE ARE MISSING CARTRIDGES WHEN THEY ARE FULL ? EVEN AFTER I REMOVE THE STICKERS?

Depending on the model, you probably only have 2 ink cartridges. one for BLACK and one is a tr-color (Cyan-Yellow-Magenta). That is if Lexmark is still shipping cartridges with their printers. They are probably only "starter" cartridges with limited ink in them. Is your Lexmark printer utilities telling you that a cartridge is missing? Did you remove the protective tapes off the cartridge heads before installing them? Try reinstalling the cartridges again and when the utilities screen pops up, tell it the cartridge has already been used, or try telling it that they are new. If this printer is new to you but is OLD stock, it may have been sitting for quite some time and the ink is dried up. Cartridges really only contain a relatively small amount of ink in a saturated sponge and they do dry up. If you want, and the printer is older, get some lab swabs (longer than a Q-Tip with cotton at one end only). Ask a pharmacy clerk if they have any. Moisten with alcohol and try cleaning the place where the cartridge seats into the carrier. I don't remember if Lexmark print heads are in the cartridge itself, or separate in the carrier. Worst case is make sure the drivers you are using for the printer are matched to the operating system you are using. Unplug the printer, uninstall the Lexmark drivers, reinstall the correct drivers, plug the USB back into the printer and start over. Printer and printer DRIVER problems seem to be the worst. If any of this helps, please rate it accordingly. Thanks and good luck.

I have a Lexmark x1100 Series printer and cannot print anything now. This printer has been working but it stopped printing. Do not have the CD.

Need more info. Any error messages? Did it just stop pumping ink on paper. Are you trying to print black text or color picture? If no error, your cartridges may be empty. If black text does not work, try color picture. Usually one cartridge goes empty and the other still has ink. If color pic prints replace black cartridge. If neither black or color prints at all, it may be a toasted printhead

If you need to reinstall the software, uninstall it, then go to lexmark.com and get new drivers from their site. RESTART COMPUTER! Reinstall from the downloaded file.

If all the above fail to make it work, it is hosed, shop for new printer.

Lexmark x5470, alignment error

hi alyciaadamo;
im not sure but i think uninstalling and reinstalling will not get the printer set back to default settings. can you navigate through the menu even if you see the error? press the cancel or something? if you can, look for reset factory settings.

also try to remove all the ink cartridge, and power cable from the printer, wait for 30mins and try it back.

I just want to know if your using genuine lexmark ink for you printer. :)

Anyone else having this problem with Lexmark x1200 series?

Lexmark says that you have to use only new lexmark ink packages. You can not use ones that are refilled. Also you can not only use the black cartridge to print. You must have both in.
