Go to the TV Guide web site:

http://www.tvguide.com

You have to choose your location by zip code and if you have cable, satellite, etc. Then you can choose the day of the week and the time and find your show. When you move the mouse over the show a window will pop up a synopsis, click in the middle of the pop up and it will open another page with info about the show. Scroll down a little and on the left hand side it shows VCR+ and Tivo info. I have not used this feature because I don't know if it will let you set something to record say on a weekly basis. I use my unit to record some TV series which play weekly at the same bat time and same bat channel! Plus this unit has 16 timer record slots, twice as many as any VCR and the programing is much more flexible, Good Luck.

Plus code?

That would be the Video Plus system. By pressing the plus code button on the remote a screen will pop up with spaces to add numbers. These numbers used to be found in TV guides. Each programme you want to record will have it's own numbers. So if the show you want has a number say of 679 you enter that number using the channel keys on the remote. When you have the number on you press OK or the enter key depending on the remote and model number. This will then set the timer record.
Unfortunately many TV guides (in the UK) no longer carry the numbers. And if the VCR is an analogue one it won't record anything if you are in the UK. However if you live in a country which still has the service then it will work.
If you are using the video with a converter box, unless you can find a TV guide with the numbers in then you will have to use the manual record setting.

I would like simple steps to transfer VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KY. I want to copy with the unit alone. Would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi ,

Please follow the instructions below to record from VHS to DVD. You may not be able to record from some pre-recorded VHS cassettes due to copyight protection embedded into the recording. You should stick some tape over the copy-protection tab on cassettes prior to recording if the tab has been removed. On some cassettes, there may be a slide switch which needs to be moved to the record/rec position. All pre-recorded cassettes will have the copy-protection tab removed.

1. Switch on the TV and DVD/VCR and select the correct input on the TV for the player.
2. Set the player for the recording direction, i.e. VCR to DVD . . .

- Press the SETUP key on the Toshiba remote to open the on-screen menu
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight GENERAL SETTING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight RECORDING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight DUBBING MODE then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight VCR > DVD then press ENTER
- Press the SETUP key again to close the on-screen menu

3. Press VCR to select VCR mode.
4. Insert the cassette you wish to record and fast-forward or rewind it to the position where you want to start recording from. Allow at least 5 seconds extra if not starting the recording from the beginning of a cassette.
5. Press PLAY then press PAUSE immediately.
6. Press DVD to select DVD mode
7. Insert a blank DVD
8. Press the REC MODE button to select the recording mode (XP / SP / LP, etc)
9. Press the DUBBING key to start the recording.

You can watch the VCR while it's recording. When you reach the point where you want the recording to end, press the STOP key. You do not need to repeat step 2 every time you record. The player will stay in VCR > DVD recording mode unless you change it.

Hopefully, you will now be able to record from VCR to DVD. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

Sony - SLV-685HF -vcr using universal remote one for all 3021 can't change recording from sp to ep so I can record more on tape. vcr says auto, or 180 in speed setting always records sp. I just want to pop...

I solved it myself by selecting guide on the remote, then the tv screen said enter plus code. ijust type in all 0's for each space given (0000000) then the setting instantly changrd to EP from SP. I pushed set on the universal remote , that was it.
It was necessary to use the power button to turn vcr off like tthe TV screen said because I was just setting the timer. You can just go to menu or whatever next.
I didn't appreciate FixYa trying to sell me a membership before even
attempting to offer a solution. They could have at least faked trying to find a solution. Instant response we would like to offer our premium services ....

How do i record from directv hddvr plus to my vcr or dvd

Your going to need a AV connection out of the DVR into the DVD or VCR, whichever you want to record to. Go with the highest quality cable you can because that will define the quality you end up with. If you have an HDMI connection out of the DVR and an HDMI connection into your DVD Recorder, that is definitally the way to go.

Proscan vcr plus gold stuck in lock

I just had the same problem and found a solution on the internet that worked. Hopefully you still have the VCR's remote control. Press and hold either the on/off, VCR1 or VCR2 button on the remote. I pressed the VCR1 button and held it for about 5-7 seconds. It released the lock and worked fine afterwards. The lock is some kind of childlock devise.
