I bought a universal remote for my tv vcr combo and the codes that came with it wont work i do not have the original remote what can i do

Universal remotes will be missing key functions in these units.

Zenith (and for that matter most brands) do not make these units--about 4 companies make most of them.

Your best bet is to try to locate an original remote--Zenith(LG) or Google the model number "original remote" or even search EBAY.

I have found that most DVD/VCR combos operate on their own frequency bands and TV remotes and alot of the universal remotes will not code to these,try the original remote that came with your combo unit to operate the other units that you want to control. Good luck !

Universal remotes rarely fully work with these type of units. Call Orion customer service 800 289 0980 to price an original remote.

You can try the codes for Orion, Emerson, and RCA. Call the number on the back of the set to see if the original remote is available.

We have a Sylvania 6313CB TV/VCR combo.  I bought a universal remote and the code would not work when I tried to program it to the "TV" button using all those possible codes listed in the books.  So, on the universal remote, there was a button named "VCR" and when I programmed in the code "0000" all worked.  This was a $6.00 universal remote named "One For All"  we bought at the Big Lots store.  
Specifically, here is what I did:
Turned TV on Pushed the "VCR" button and light blinked once Pushed and held the "set" button until it blinked twice Released the "set" button and entered the numbers "0000" Pushed the on/off button and it worked including volume, channel up/down and channel change by entering the channel number.

Hey I have the same situation Go to MR REMOTE.com and give them your tv model usually will have a new manufacture remote under $30.00 ( just add Batteries and it works)no codes to enter!) I think the Memorex is lacking on the universal codes Especially for the DVD/TV/VCR combos

I had this problem with my TV/VCR combo unit (Samsung CXC1972) after losing the remote while in the dorms. I tried a few different universal remotes and dozens of codes before I tried the Philips 3 device universal remote as pictured below with code 037 programmed into the VCR/DVD button. I can't change the volume with this code but the input key switches between line in and tv. You can also change the channel, access the menu and operate the VCR functions with the code. I bought the remote for less than $10 at Walmart so it might be worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can always bring it back. Hope this helps.
