Question about Philips Televison & Video
Have 42'' Phillips Plasma TV. Recently a vertical bar approx. 9''x3'' appears intermittently in middle of screen. Vertical bar is not solid but scrolling lines resembling interference. Last night, screen went completely black and picture re-appeared once TV was turned off and then on again.
The tv is shot. This occurs when pixels on the top row of the screen break, which blocks current from moving through the rest of the pixels in that column. But don't worry this problem is common and is covered in your tv's warranty.

I had the same problem and fixed with a great online tutorial. Just replace 3 capacitors available at Radioshack onthe the board. 2662, 2663, 2664 1 is a 1000uf the others are 100uf. Max Volts need to be over 25. It worked great, check http://dynamicorange.com/2008/06/25/fixing-a-plasma-tv/

It sounds like an Intergrated Circuit (IC) has fried. Even on a good day, this is not something you can attack at home. As a tech (and as an owner of that model samsung), I'd need a map & tools to know what's going on. Your best bet in this situation is to contact Samsung and let them recommend an authorized service center in your area. Sorry I can't be of more help, but this is a rather serious problem.
