Your SIM does not have adequate space to store pictures. It's purpose is to store tiny bits of identification and contact info only. You need to store media (pictures, music, video, etc) on a memory card.
The only information you can save on sim card is your contact number and messages. Music, video and picture can not be save on sim card but on memory card.
To copy contact number from phone to sim card, go to phone book, press the option button and scroll down to copy number from phone to sim card. You can also do same thing on messages too.
You have to make sure your contacts are saved on to your Sim card because if they were stored on the phone's memory they wont appear on your new phone when you switch the sim card over. Once you are on the phonebook you should be able to see a setting that says something like IMPORT contacts to sim card and then when you put it in the new phone you will hit IMPORT contacts to phone.
The sim card or smart chip stores all the important information such as contacts, pictures, music and games which you have collected or downloaded to your phone. In the main menu go to Contacts>View Options>choose SIM only and all your contacts will be saved onto your SIM card.
If your phone has a SIM card it will be under the battery. Your contacts only are on the SIM if you choose to store them there or copy them there. In order to save the pictures to the new phone you need a data cable.
Verizon is a cdma network and does not use sim cards you will have to go into the store to get the phone switched (they might charge you $20) or call customer service (1-800-922-0204) or do it online yourself by logging on to the vzw my account website.
I don't know how you can assign pics/music to sim contacts - I tried but I couldn't work it out as well. When I click 'edit' on a sim stored contact a menu appears with memory, name and number only.
However, if you move your contacts from sim to phone, you will be able to assign both pictures and ringtones. This time the edit menu extends to home, mobile and office number, e-mail, group, ringtone and photo (with photos make sure size is 680x480 or smaller).
