Our whole system crashed and we had to reload operating system. Everything fine except now I need increase the screen resolution to install my Verizon disk (says has to be minimum of 800 x 600), but stuck on 640 x 480 - curser won't move to increase. Troubleshooted on Dell but selections they told me to pick are "grayed out" - can't use. Anyone run in to this?

Quick answer - not specifically to change font size, but to change whole screen size
The whole screen size can be magnified (zoom in) by simultaneously pressing CNTRL + ; the reverse operation (zoom out - what you want I think) is performed by CNTRL - (press cntl and + keys simultaneously)
Or change (increase) the resolution of the screen by right clicking a blank a blank area of the desktop and selecting 'screen resolution' in Windows 7 or in XP one the tabs similarly labeled, and increasing resolution if not at max already.
The problem might be that your system is trying to start with a high resolution that your screen can't support. All you have to do is to reduce the resolution of your screen, so follow these steps
- Reboot your computer.
- Press F8 right before Windows starts you will get a troubshooting menu.
- Select start on VGA mode.
- Once you are on the system.
- Go to your Control panel->Display->Settings->Screen Resolution.
- Decreese the screen resolution. Try 1024x768 or other resolutions, if the screen turn to black, press ESC to discard that resolution and then try an other one.
First make sure dispplay screen resolution is set to 1024*768 . For that go to start ->control panel->display->setings set screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply . If it is already set to 1024*768 then press menu button of monitor and increase horizontal and vertical position also put the picture in center first then increase both H and V position then it will give good display. Also make sure display driver installed and working fine. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
In brief, decrease the resolution on your monitor (go from 1024x768 to 800x600 for example) which will make everything bigger (this is under control panel -> display options in XP) or go to Accessibility options (or ease of use options in Vista) to set font sizes larger (just make text bigger, not everything else).
Hope it helps.
