Question about Lanier Office Equipment & Supplies
Our Lanier 6713 copier was dropped on the floor a few years ago...cracked the glass plate in the corner, but still works. However, there is toner everywhere inside of it. I'm not sure where to start to clean it, and can't even find the user manual. Obviously our copy quality is getting worse-very dark.
What can I do to improve things to get us by until we get a new copier? I've read not to use a regular vacuum cleaner because of the charged toner particles, and I can't even tell what is the drum because of the coating of toner on everything.

Jim, A couple of things: 1. OEM (Canon original) toner cartridge or remanufactured/compatible? The first place to start is always with the toner cartridge when image problems occur. Pull the cartridge out and draw back the drum cover. Check to see if the drum is a nice "clean" blue color or if the lines and spots are on it like you described. (These two areas should be handled by someone with experience in copy service) 2. The next thing would involved cleaning under the copy glass. Build up from dust, etc causes a "fogginess" that makes the machine try to adjust the intensity of the exposure lamp to conpensate for this. 3. Also could be a bad upper fuser roller if you started having any paper jams when to paper exits.

Have you cleaned the slit-glass located behind the drum? Its a thin piece of glass that is about the length of a drum assembly. Check that the drum voltages on the drum label have been correctly installed. Perform a AVPC in service mode to set the primary charge value.

sounds like faulty drum cleaning blade, which is usually contained in the replacement drum module.I would be inclined to take the drum unit back where you got it (unless you replaced it with a second-hand one) 99% certain the problem is contained in that module
