My HP CP1700 prints out gray tones in pink.

When running cadd prints my HP ink jet printer began printing gray tones as pink. ( I was getting the grays until recently.) The ink cartridges show to be full.  How do I get accurate grays?

I did this procedure successfully, ran a diagnostic report: all cartridges and print heads look good. Also ran level 1 & 2 print head cleaning procedure: now there's no gray at all when printing.

Cadd prints on HP CP1700 are coming out with pink areas where gray tones should be. I ran a level 1 & 2 Print head cleaning procedure and had the printer print out a diagnostic report. Results: print heads and cartridges are shown to be good, but, now, the pink is gone, but along with it, the gray tones as well. How do I get accurate grays?

Ink cartridges are HP, expire date: 12-3-09; not refilling them myself; printer is 3 1/2 years old...haven't used it much, mostly in last 8 months; print heads are original-installed date: 9-16-04.

Maintaining the printer body Printer case exterior Follow these guidelines when cleaning the outside of the printer:

  • Use water only. Do not use household cleaners or detergents.
  • Use a soft damp cloth to remove dust, smudges, stains, and spilled ink from the printer case exterior.
Printer interior Do not clean the printer’s interior. Keep all liquids away from the interior. Print carriage rod Do not lubricate the rod on which the print carriage moves. It is normal to hear noise as the carriage moves back and forth on the rod when the printer is new. Handling and storage Handle and store the printer in an upright, level position for maximum performance and reliability.

Printer does not print in color but only prints in

Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" -- the ink inside the cartridges is not getting through the ink-jets, and is not reaching the paper.

Either that, or the electronics inside the ink-jets are malfunctioning, i.e., not telling the ink-jets to shoot the ink out.

My hp 712c printer prints only the pink band when I run a color test. I have replaced the original cartridge. Any ideas about the cause and solution.

The cause is either:
* clogged ink-jets not allowing yellow & blue ink to move from the ink-cartridge onto the paper;
* busted electronics inside the printer, causing the ink-jets to not "spray" at all.

Use the software to try a "print-head-cleaning" cycle.
If that fails to improve things, it's time to replace the printer.

Printer HP Deskjet D1460 prints pink"..Instead of Black

The printed colours are an "additive" mix of the "primary" colours in your printer.

So, when the colour ink-jet cartridge is "out-of-ink" on one (or more) of its colours, the "mix" will be off, and the "wrong" colour will be the result.

Change the colour cartridge.

Before changing it, run a "deep-cleaning" cycle, using the HP Support software that was installed when you installed from the CD-ROM that came with the printer, to "clean" any/all "clogged" ink-jets -- i.e., a clog could be preventing one colour of ink from being sprayed onto the paper.

Can't print BLUE.

I use a clear silicone tube to carefully prime the carts by sucking a dab of ink out of the tiny print holes before installation. I am careful to have a tight seal at the holes to prevent getting too much ink and possibly getting it in my mouth. Make sure each color appears.

HP CP1700 - no cyan or blue printing

Try taking a look at your printheads. Have they been installed for some time. You may need to change them. Start with the Cyan first.

DeskJet 950C Pink Printing problem

Assuming that you have the correct print drivers and the color is set correctly on your software. Then the issue is often caused by the ink drying and clogging the injectors. Open the lid and remove the ink cartridges, then unplug the printer. Then get a swab or Q tip and using bottled water (do not use tap water). Moisten the swab and wipe the areas on the printer where the ink cartridge contacts the printer. You should see ink on the swab. After you let it completely dry then place the cartridge back in and turn the printer back on. Try to print again. If it is still not printing with the correct colors then you could have a problem with the injector circuitry. At that point it is cheaper to buy a new printer. You can get refurbished ink jet Dell printers at Dell.com under outlet for usually $30-$40 and a one year warranty.
