I have a Techinics SL-PG3 CD Player connected to a amplifer & speakers. I would like to connect the CD Player direct my TV instead to play cd,s and to listen to the cd,s on my tv is this possible ? My TV is a Wharfedale L32TA6A with -YPbPr input and L-AUDIO-R input.

I know that this sounds obcious but you need to connect the audio leads (L and R) from the player to the amp as well as the control connecter before you connect the speaker cables from the amp. Otherwise just connect the speakers direct to the player.
verify your amps input. hook up a portable cd player with a headphone to rca "y" adapter to the amp and try that, to make sure it isnt an issue with the reciever/cd deck oir the input circuit. if the amp works correctly with the protable cd player/ walkman.mp3 player whatever, instead of the car deck, then something is wrong with your decks audio output. if it does not work with a secondary input device then perhaps you have the power hooked wrong. there should be both a red and yellow power lead from the amp, the red should be connected directly to the battery, and the yellow to the "acc on" (any circuit that turns on only when the car or stereo is turned on, sometimes connected directly to the stereo). both can be connected directly to the battery, but the yellow would need a switch, in that case, to turn the amp off when not in use.
Generally, on most modern tv's the answer is yes. if you're connecting via an A/V amplifier then no problem at all but you stated that you're after a direct to tv connection.
But the answer depends entirely on the make and model of tv and whether it has standard left and right phono inputs. If it only has Scart sockets (UK/Europe only) then there are adapters which will do the job.
As you haven't given any details at all about your tv I cannot give you any more specific details.
Component CD players like yours must be used with an amplifier. Their output is called "line level" and isn't beefy enough to drive speakers directly. An amplifier is needed to boost those line level signals to speaker level. The same is true for other components like tape decks, DVD players and so on. A CD player may have a headphone output jack, though, since headphones don't require the same power levels as speakers. So you could use the player by itself for headphone listening.

Question? have you also connected the Remote cable from the CD player to the Amp? or have you only got 12v & gnd hooked into the amp? if so then the amp will be on all the time. the remote goes from the CD player to the amp, usually a blue cable from the back of the head unit.
There is no built-in amplifier on your cd-player so you cannot connect speakers directly to the CD player unless they are self-powered(like the speakers for a computer) so you will need to connect the red and white rca jacks to the television's audio input jacks, an external stereo reciever, or self-powered speakers to get sound from the cd player.
Unlike low-end hi-fi systems where you buy one box that does everything, the CD player you have is part of a component hi-fi system (i.e. you buy your CD player, tuner, amplifer etc. as separate items.) This is why there is no volume control. It needs to be connected to an amplifer. It's on the amp that you will find the volume control and where you connect the speakers. (When you connect it to your television, you are just using that amp in the TV instead.)
The CD player did originally ship with a remote control, but I don't know where you would be able to buy one on its own. You may find the the remote does allow you to alter the output level of the CD player, but you still need to connect it to a proper amp to get it to work.
It may be that the remote lead on the amp has been connected to the auto antenna lead on the radio instead of the amp remote lead and because the auto antenna goes down when the cd is inserted it is turning off you amplifier, check the connections behind the radio or if there is a light on the amp check if the light goes out when you insert a cd
