My friend has a wireless router that he put into my computer. I have a web cam and it stopped working with MSN. Is the wireless router the problem that is making the web cam not workI tried using the web cam with AIM. The video worked. I could hear her, but she could not hear me. Now, we cannot see each other's videos. I am wondering what the problem is.

Check if the Wireless computer is connected correctly to the Wireless Router, and if yes then try to access google.com and check if you have that Web page opened or not, if not thenn check the Wireless IP address of the Laptop and make sure it should be in the same range of the router, or else the Wireless computer will not connect to Internet.
yes it does work as a web cam.Simply load the drivers for that camera on your pc ,After your computer recognizes it by plugging the in usb cord and opening the view finder push the round little play button and wa-la you have a web cam.Go on to msn and try a video with your friends it works clear as a bell you do how ever need a mic separately i think.just use you normal head set with the mic on it.hope this helps
If the web cam is working normally with other web cam applications but MSN then it's required to configure MSN to use the web cam. Please follow the steps given below to configure MSN to use the web cam.
(i) Please ensure that the web cam is turned ON. (ii) Then, double click the MSN icon and log on. (iii) Click on the Tools menu, then click on the audio/video tuning wizard. Then, click Next to start the wizard. (iv) On the first wizard page, under Camera, click the web cam then click Next.
Performing all the above steps will configure MSN to use with the web cam. In order to start a video conversation, follow the steps given below after signing in MSN: (a) Click Action, then point to audio/video. (b) Then, click start a video conversation. (c) Select a contact from "My contacts" page then OK.
first you need to know that if you used xp ...and upgraded to vista ...you need to find a compatible driver for your web cam too ...if your web cam used to work just fine on vista ...and its just the msn issue ...just reinstall the latest MSN messenger and it should be enough ...also verify the proxy servers on the messenger preferences..and set 'em to fit the kinda conexion you use... but I suspect a problem with the program settings ...so the easy way is just to install the latest messenger(MSN) available for vista ...and it will be ok
if you have the webcam center opened along with with msn then it wont work on either one of them. you can try these steps tp check if it works for you or not.
1)look for the web cam center system tray icon and right click on it if its there and select exit
and as u said u cant see you self in web cam console --- in webcam console you can only see your self under the doodling tab and only of your webcam is working at that i.e
either you have the webcam center opened or any other messenger or software which turns on your cam then only ull be able to view your cam in webcam console alongside.
as ive told others, make sure u actually turn off the software program that came with the computer before using with msn! u should be able to have it on while using it but for some reason some computers wont allow it! it "tells itself" that there are 2 programs trying to run the web cam when really only one is. but because the program is on, it sees it as being used in 2 places at 2 different times!
try turning off and exiting the software (dell webcam manager) and then go onto msn and try using ur web cam!! make sure the dell manager is exited, then when u have a msn window open, turn the cam on and see if ur friends can see u then..
good luck.. if this doesnt work ill check back and see what i can do for you!

Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they areto be used with.Just installing thecamera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order forthe Audio and Video to function properly.
A.Skype Setup: After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly.Your friends and Family will now see andtalk to you.
B.Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger setit up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and(in blue writing) click on“Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly soyou can chat and see family or friends you are connected to. Hope this helps.Bud
Make sure you fully reset the device to its factory settings. I am not sure on the DLink what the procedure is. Usually it's unplugging the unit, pressing the reset button for 10-30 seconds, then repowering on the unit.
From a wired laptop, reinstall the software using the CD that came with the unit to set up the router. Your manual should cover all of this. If you don't have the manual/software, re-download it from D-Link's web site.
If the router will not power on or give status lights, then that's another problem entirely.
