HP Photosmart 7450 stuck cartridge

Paper feeds to the point where printer would normally begin. Then flashing light changes from green to red and print operation stops. Printer cartridge appears to be stuck in far right area of cartridge track. Nothing appears to be preventing cartridge movement, however it appears to be locked into place.. Suggestions?

    Same as two above and solutions tries. Printer picks up paper, seems like it will print, grinding noise, then red light. I did get a test page and sample page to print and 1 document I put in, then, it started all over again. Even when it printed there was a grinding noise

    My problem is similar- if not exactly the same... try this one out.

    I had just finished printing some documents and attempted one more when the printing process stopped just where it would normally begin. Pop up said it was a paper jam. I removed the back door and pulled the paper out no problem- it of course attempted the print again with the same problem. The paper doesn't appear to be jammed at all, but it stops at the same place every time it pulls the paper into it. If everyone is having this problem is it a faulty printer or something we all happened to do wrong?

I'm no expert but drivers don't make gears break. All of you have the same problem as me and it's a broken tab on one of the plastic arms that in gauges with the gears.

Not a solution, my paper feeds past the point where printerHP Photosmart 7450 stuck cartridge - 5.gif would normally begin. Then flashing light changes from green to red and print operation stops. Printer cartridge appears to be stuck in far right area of cartridge track.

Replaced drivers as above and still have the same problem.
Mine started after I had replaced the color cartridge. Mailed the old one to HP already so can't put in old cartridge.

If I unplug printer from computer, I get same results. Does the driver software install in the printer?

Hmmm...well..that's a 'reset' position for that carriage..means that the print commands are corrupted.

suggest you remove the old s/w

go here for new fresh set of drivers(don't use CD version)

re install

try again with test page first.

My hp Photosmart 7450 printer was working, then in the middle of printing it stopped and there is an error message on my computer, the green light is blinking on printer but won't print

First things first... try connecting your printer to another pc or laptop and try printing... make sure spooling is on in the driver and there are no other programs running...

if issue reappears then

It sounds like your printer cartridges are the issue

I would try reinstalling them...

if that does not work then

I would try cleaning your printer cartridge...

Gather cleaning supplies:
Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available.
Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material (coffee filters work well).
Remove both cartridges.
Unplug the printer.
Lightly moisten the lint-free cleaning material with clean water.
Clean the cartridge contacts. Avoid touching the nozzles. Replace the cleaning material if it gets dirty.

If that does not work then I would try ordering some new cartridges

My epson tx700 printer dispaly ink pad at end of life and printer not start

A fix from a forum:

Procedure 1 We found this procedure to work for the Stylus Photo 1270 type printer, and understand that it also works for the 870 range and even earlier models like the Stylus Color 740. The error is indicated on these printers by all four lights on the printer flashing. Even if you press the power switch on the printer, the lights continue to flash, and the printer does not turn off!
  1. Turn off your printer, ensuring that the print head is at it's home location and locked in place as normal;
  2. Power off the printer at the wall or by removing the power cable, for at least 20 seconds;
  3. When you restore power to the printer at the wall socket or by reinserting the cable, if the lights come back on straight away, the printer's power switch was 'on' - switch it off and return to step 1;
  4. Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons down;
  5. When the paper-out LED flashes, release the buttons;
  6. Press and hold the Cleaning button, until several lights flash - this will take a few seconds (i.e. then release the button);
  7. The printer will now attempt to reset, including resetting the EEPROM memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.
Procedure 2
  1. Turn off your printer, ensuring that the print head is at it's home location and locked in place as normal;
  2. Hold down the paper feed button only;
  3. Turn on the printer;
  4. As the paper feed light starts flashing, release the button;
  5. Immediately hold down the ink-drops button for some 10-20 seconds or until the printer springs into life;
  6. Allow printer to complete it's processing, then turn off for a few seconds, and back on again for a newly working printer!
Procedure 3 - for 1290 and possibly 890 printers 1290 printer with green (power / data) and red (ink / paper feed) lights flashing alternately:
  1. Switch off printer with panel switch;
  2. Switch off printer at mains switch - leave off for 20+ seconds;
  3. Hold down roll feed and sheet feed buttons;
  4. Switch on at mains;
  5. Switch on at printer panel;
  6. Continue to hold down roll and sheet feed buttons until both green and red lights flash together in synchronisation, not alternately;
  7. Switch printer off and then, after a few seconds, on again at mains switch;
  8. When red and green lights are both flashing in synchronisation, release the roll and sheet feed buttons;
  9. Press and hold down the ROLL FEED button (the one at the extreme left) and keep it down until the machine finishes whirring, cleaning etc and the green light comes on steady;
  10. Release the roll feed button and all should be well.

The ink pads are at the end if their service life.

Printer won't print. Flashing red light. No paper jam and ink cartridges are ok. Please help!!

Per the manual, it's 99.9 % one of these causing the issue. The other .1 % should take it back or get a new one.

The printer requires attention. Try the following:
● If the printer is connected to a computer, check the computer screen for
instructions. If the printer is not connected to a computer, check for the following
problems:
– Top cover open
– Out of paper
– Paper jam
– Print carriage jammed or stuck
– Print cartridge inserted incorrectly
– Incorrect print cartridge installed
● If you are unable to solve the problem by using the instructions above, turn off the
printer and unplug the printer's power cord. Wait one minute, then plug it in again.
Turn on the printer.

There are actually some certain meaning on the red light and green light showing different information to user. The summaries are:
1) Green On, Red Off = Printer Ready.
2) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Fast-Flashing = Printer warm up.
3) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Off = Printer off-line.
4) Green Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Processing Data.
5) Green Off, Red On = Cover Opened, Toner Empty or Developer Unit / Drum unit missing.
6) Green Off, Red Fast-Flashing = Paper Jam or waiting for jam reset.
7) Green Off, Red Slow-Flashing = Paper Empty or Paper tray is not inserted.
8) Green Off, Red Off = Printer power is off.
9) Green Very-Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Printer in sleep mode.
10) Green (any condition above), Red Slow-Flashing = Toner low or paper empty.

So what is your printer condition? Better know what is going on your printer so can solve the problem.
