1999 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG with Alpine head unit and CD changer connected with fiber optic cable. Always operated just fine, then one day radio shows "NO CD CHANGER" when CD selected. Changer accepts full cartridge and ejects it properly. Tried disconnecting all cables and re-connecting - no sucess. Any ideas?

Sorry but no. With the units power lead fused, you can hold the red wire to the + terminal of the battery and the black lead to the chassis of the car and power up and eject. good luck

Do I have to program a second hand CD changer to my cl 500 I have tryed 3 changers in and its still not working comes up on the head unit no CD!thank you for your time regards trevor

sounds like the problem is that the head unit does not have the version coding set to show you have a cd changer installed in the vehicle. The second possibility is that the fiber optic ring in down which could give the same result. First you have to restart the fiber optic ring and then you have to check the version coding; You need to hook up a mercedes sds to the vehicle

I dont remember if that year had a theft lock system or not, but I am looking into it. disconnect the negative battery cable for ten minutes and that should get you back to where you can enter the unlock code again and use the radio.

I was told that the laser in my 2002 C240 6 disc changer is weak. It came with the car, and its in the glove compartment, I was told its alpine, and it has the mercedes logo on it. I was quoted $200 to fix...

Mercedes has had issues with their cd changers for years. The price they quoted you is not to bad actually as a brand new Mbz cd changer can be a little pricey. If you buy a new one they will ask for your old one as a core so make sure to ask for a reconditioned one. They call it reconditioned because the housings are not brand new but all the interior components are. Your stock cd changer has the connection for the fiber optic wires. If you go with aftermarket you will lose that connection and will not be able to control the cd player from the radio or the steering wheel controls.

Hi, Joe here to help. The cd changer is at fault. You need to replace the changer. The system is on a fiber optic loop which cuts out the sound if can not complete that loop.

Not sure what the problem is

Check the changer and see if cds are inserted correctly or if 2 cds are in one slot.
