Hi, I shut off my ps3 a day ago, and when I went to turn it back on, everything was enlarged a little bit. Not too much, but, the screen displaying on my TV was too big, and the normal home screen of the ps3, cannot fully be viewed because of the enlargement. Its the TV I think because when I turn on my regular TV, its normal. When the ps3 is on, its a little bit too big for the screen. Its very bothersome, and I need some things to try. When I try to play games on it, some of the things on the bottom of the screen cannot be showed because of the enlargement. Any suggestions?

No you shouldn't need a new TV, all you need to do is reset the video settings, follow the guide below >>>>>
Make sure that you have only 1 type of video cable
connected between your PS3 and your TV or monitor, an HDMI cable is
optimal. If you have multiple video connections the reset sometimes
does not work.
Make sure that your TV or monitor is turned on and
set to the proper input for your PS3.
With your PS3 in standby mode, turn your console on
using the front power button and hold the button down. With the button
held down, You will here one beep when the console first turns on, and,
after about 4-5 seconds, you will here a second beep. When you here the
second beep let go of the button.
If you watch the screen you should see it flicker
once or twice and then your system should boot up and go to a screen to
confirm your video settings. Simply confirm the settings and you should
be able to resume playing your PS3 as normal.
If your system does not boot up and give you the
confirmation screen for your video settings, then you should shut the
system off and restart the system as normal. This will usually finalize
the reset of the video settings.
If your system still is not displaying video then
please repeat steps 1-5 again. It is unlikely but, you may have to
reset the video 3-4 times before it works with your console. The reason
for this is unknown.
The procedure to reset video ,on your PS3, should be
complete at this point and you should be back up and running as normal.
NOTES: PS3 "slim" models are always in standby mode when
plugged in. PS3 "fat" models must have the rear power switch turned on.
If you are only using the composite video cables, then there will be no
confirmation screens for your video settings.
how was it connected at this other residence? was it via HDMI cable by any chance? if so try this, with the PS3 in stand by mode Press and hold the power button for 5 secs.. (until you hear the second beep) this causes the PS3 to reset the display properties back to 480i..follow the onscreen instructions to set it back up to 1080i
Your PS3 auto-adjusted to the HDMI Input cable, so you will need to find somewhere that you can either get an HDMI cable or a HDMI TV, so you can view the screen. Then you can hook up the A/V jacks and go to your Videa and Audio Output Settings and choose them, disabling the HDMI hookup selected. Then you'll be back in business!
It may have the changed somehow, try turning off your ps3, wait 10 secs, turn the ps3 back on and do not release the power button until you hear the beeps, it should reset your display.
First thing you should try is using the regular old AV cables. That way we know if it's an hdmi problem or a video problem with the PS3. Hook them up, do the manual video reset ( hold down the power button until you hear a second beep, quickly release) and then post back here with the results.
You will need to change the display settings back to normal for a standard TV. Obviously a little tricky if it's already hooked up to the TV that won't display a picture! If you do a manual (or is it called total reset?) this should revert it back to standard TV settings. To perform the reset hold the power button down for 10 seconds (I think it's 10 anyway) or until you here a couple of beeps and it should reset the display settings to it's default.
Hope that helps? Sorry I cant be more exact on the reset details.
when u connect ps3 to your tv turn on main switch now red led will come on press and hold touch button ps3 will come on keep your finger on the button and ps3 will turn off again factory settings are now reloaded this will work because i often change from standard v to hd tv
You need to change the resolution output on your PS3 to match the capabilities of your TV. If your TV is not HD you can't leave the PS3's video output on HD. SCART is for european television connections. Have you tried using component cables? Have you tried changing your tv's source to Video 1 or Component 1 or HDMI or anything that might work? Good luck!!
